Casual Friday has taken on a whole new meaning lately but that doesn't mean things must be sloppy and sad.  Rather I quite the opposite can be so and today's look easily shows us why.  I love nothing more than a great navy jacket come springtime.  The color is just so incredibly rich, it comes in the loveliest of fabrics and it is so simple to wear in a gorgeous number of ways.

Today I'm pairing it with a light wash pair of high-waisted denim from Topshop.  I love the mix of high and low looks and the way they create an effortlessly chic look that's always perfectly polished.  

Layering is a key essential come springtime and jackets and tees are one easy way to do it.  This blazer is a much-loved go-to for me all season long.  I love it worn just about every way imaginable.  A smart short-sleeved white turtleneck pairs easily and well as you can never go wrong with this color combination.  

Warm the look up a bit with a buttery caramel or tan handbag and some bits of gold jewelry.  This look can carry a larger bag as its hint of masculinity isn't easily overpowered.  For a bit of balance, I love to add a pretty, feminine headband and a timeless pair of sunglasses.  Finish the look with a pair of white trainers (love these) and your casual Friday look is finished.

Winter blahs? Never! Haha, well at least not when their are gorgeous neutrals like these waiting to be worn.  If you've followed along for a little bit of time then you likely already know that I love a great neutral.  Ivories, creams, cogbacs, greys and subtle shades of rose all qualify for this much adored category.  And what makes this love affair even better is the fact that you can wear it all year long no matter the season.  

During the cold winter months, I am always reaching for the coziest of items in these shades and colors.  To me they are just so truly romantic and angelic as they light you up everywhere you go.  My favorite way to wear them is by combining winter whites with icy greys and taupes and then added a bolder bit of interest with your accessories.  This sweater, these trousers and this fedora would be so chic paired with these ankle boots, these glasses and this bag.  Keep the vibe going on into spring by switching out these cozy fabrics for sheerer options warm days will be begging for.

Winter blahs? Never! Happy Monday!  Recently, I've been getting a lot of questions about the  best pieces to invest in when you want to create a simple and chic closet that works overtime to curate classic looks all season long.  So, today I'm putting together the key pieces I personally love and reach for during the fall and sometimes all year round.

Number one on my list is a camel coat.  While this staple can have the reputation of coming with a steep price tag, that isn't always necessarily true.  Luckily, there are options to suit every price range when it comes to this beautiful coat.

Now, if you live in a warm climate where this cozy layer is simply not an option then I'd be reaching for yes, you guessed it, the blazer.  This iconic piece will take you everywhere you need to go and will effortlessly work with everything you own whether casual, classic, edgy, sporty or elegant.  It is one piece that has stood the test of time and can work in every wardrobe regardless of your personal style.  

With a gorgeous coat or jacket at the ready, it almost might not even matter what you're wearing underneath because the jacket will steal the show!  But, of course, we want to keep the look going.  So, I always love having an assortment of solid, neutral-toned sweaters to play with.  You know how much I adore my neutrals and honestly, they never disappoint.  This charcoal turtleneck is so perfect for right now and would layer beautifully under that camel coat or look fantastic paired with trousers or jeans.

Speaking of which, both well-made trousers and classic denim are two other ways to extend the mileage your basics afford you.  Sweaters, shirts, blouses and cardis all love them and easily pair with either to make for a beautiful, casual look.

Last, shoes and accessories are left to round out the look.  So, for me, I love investing in a classic flat, a trending pair of sneakers and a dressier ankle boot.  When I have all these options at the ready, I can then very easily mix and match them with all the pieces in my closet to create a variety of looks to suit my current mood.  A leather tote is a must-have for me as it also works with so many of the looks I find myself creating.  And finally, a classic, warm and comfy scarf will always tie a look together while adding a much-loved sense of style.

Happy Friday everyone!  Three cheers for the weekend.  What does everyone have planned?  These chic little basics will lead to countless looks to love no matter where you're heading this time.  A classic black turtleneck is definitely a closet must-have for me.  I honestly own about five different ones that I love to layer or wear alone depending upon how chilly it gets and the look I'm going for that day.  This one is super soft and comfortable which means everything when you're layering something over it.  This animal print sweater would be perfect for that!  I love the unexpected placement of the pattern and the neutral background is so pretty and soft.  A pair of jeans you love that loves you back has become a staple in today's world.  I love these as they let you dress them up (hello heels, cashmere and this lipstick) or take them casual with a graphic sweatshirt and chic sneaks.  This bag had me planning a way to add it to my closet the moment I saw it, haha.  From the drawstring style to the beautiful shade of red, it is the perfect way to elevate any look you may be wearing.  I always love to round out my outfit with a fun hat like this and a pair of sunnies as I'm sure you know!  The number of styles and way to do it adds so much personality to every look.  Who couldn't love that?!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally here!  Haha, I'm only half kidding because if you're at all fashion girl then you know what I mean.  Every July Nord's rolls out their first look at fall which is exciting enough on its own but what's better is they drop prices lower than most end of season clearance sales...on NEW merchandise!  The only trick, you have to be fast in order to score the items you want before they are GONE.  And I do mean super quick as some things sell out within minutes of going live on the website.  So, with that being the case here are the pertinent details you'll need to get what you love.  

Shop early and shop often.  If you want in on the sale right now before it goes live to the public "the card is the key" as they say.  Simply head on over to the Nordstrom website where you can sign up to be a cardholder and you will gain early access to the sale and all its savings.  What I love about being one (and there are many) is that I can use my Nordstrom debit card to make my purchases and earn rewards points.  These then equate into twenty dollar notes which can multiple and be spent on future purchases and because I requested a debit card, any all all money I spend comes right out of my checking account so now debt accumulates.  If, however, you'd rather it not work that way then you can request the Nordstrom credit card and pay it off at a pace you're comfortable with.  Either way you still get all the perks and never miss out on what's going on.

So, these are some of the items I picked up over the weekend.  While I happen to be one of those people who loves to look, see and feel it in person, I suggest you shop the sale online right now to first see if the items you want are currently available.  And, if you like it, I suggest you get it because you can always return it (Nordstrom's return policy is unmatched, another reason I love shopping with them).  This sweater was one I knew I had to have from the moment I saw it, haha.   Well, in other words, I really liked it.  Unfortunately, it is currently sold out but I'm hoping they'll restock for the 19th when the sale goes live tp the public.  This Coach bag is the perfect shade for all year round and especially for autumn.  I love the shape and style and how well it will go with so many of these cute styles.  This Michele watch is so pretty and you can start wearing it right now in this color combination.  The clothes aren't the only items worth scoping up right now.  The beauty deals are some of the best I've seen in recent years of the sale.  This lipstick set from Charlotte Tilbury is her best seller duo for a sweet steal.  I'm also in love with these colors in this MAC palette.  Cannot wait to wear these!  More of my beauty picks will be on the blog later this week so stay tuned.  Until then you can shop the links below right now if you have the card or wait for the sale to go live to the public on July 19th.  Get the details here!

Shop early and shop often.  If you want in on the sale right now before it goes live to the public "the card is the key" as they say.  Simply head on over to the Nordstrom website where you can sign up to be a cardholder and you will gain early access to the sale and all its savings.  What I love about being one (and there are many) is that I can use my Nordstrom debit card to make my purchases and earn rewards points.  These then equate into twenty dollar notes which can multiple and be spent on future purchases and because I requested a debit card, any all all money I spend comes right out of my checking account so now debt accumulates.  If, however, you'd rather it not work that way then you can request the Nordstrom credit card and pay it off at a pace you're comfortable with.  Either way you still get all the perks and never miss out on what's going on.

So, these are some of the items I picked up over the weekend.  While I happen to be one of those people who loves to look, see and feel it in person, I suggest you shop the sale online right now to first see if the items you want are currently available.  And, if you like it, I suggest you get it because you can always return it (Nordstrom's return policy is unmatched, another reason I love shopping with them).  This sweater was one I knew I had to have from the moment I saw it, haha.   Well, in other words, I really liked it.  Unfortunately, it is currently sold out but I'm hoping they'll restock for the 19th when the sale goes live tp the public.  This Coach bag is the perfect shade for all year round and especially for autumn.  I love the shape and style and how well it will go with so many of these cute styles.  This Michele watch is so pretty and you can start wearing it right now in this color combination.  The clothes aren't the only items worth scoping up right now.  The beauty deals are some of the best I've seen in recent years of the sale.  This lipstick set from Charlotte Tilbury is her best seller duo for a sweet steal.  I'm also in love with these colors in this MAC palette.  Cannot wait to wear these!  More of my beauty picks will be on the blog later this week so stay tuned.  Until then you can shop the links below right now if you have the card or wait for the sale to go live to the public on July 19th.  Get the details here!

Happy Wednesday loves!  Can anyone believe we are nearly halfway through the month already?! Better yet it's only a week or so until spring.  I love the feeling of being on the cusp of a brand new season and all the wonderful anticipation it brings.  These pretty pieces capture all those feelings so perfectly.  Who doesn't love the classic feel of denim.  Each spring it's one staple I always reach for.  I especially love it when it's in the form of a skirt or jacket.  Sneakers are a year round must but this pair is a must right now.  I saw someone wearing them at Panera the other day and had to ask where she found them, haha.  I think the ruffle detail is sweet without being childlike.  This home fragrance brings a breath of fresh air inside.  I've been using it around my home and have to say...it's intoxicating.  Eyelet details are a late spring must-have but if you want to wear it then, you need to get it now.  These pieces that you want the most are always the ones that fly off shelves.  Everybody must feel the same!  Check out all these pieces and more in the thumbnails below as we enjoy these last few days of winter!

Pair it with these super comfy jeans (if you only get one thing from the sale, get the jeans...they're under $50 and your body will thank you) and this beautiful bag from Tory Burch.  

This plaid scarf just says autumn to me and would effortlessly complete the look.  And this dryer will lead to many a good hair day.

Midweek musings means little summer luxuries like the summer dress.  With so many silhouettes and patterns to choose from, this piece is definitely a closet staple for me come June, July and August.   Two of my favorite looks right now include stripes as well as solids with detailed points of interest.  This one is so cute with its rick rack detailing and off the shoulder option.  I love the bright colors against the white too...hello, poolside.  Halter top versions like this are also on my radar.  I love how it brings the soft stripes into play and gives a bit of a Havana feel.  Short belted dresses are also a look I'm loving.  I think they are so fun and easy and I love how they can play simply with a pair of sneakers or with those strappy sandals we love.  This midi dress may be my favorite of all.  It's sexy, classic, easy to wear and selling out in nearly all sizes.  Hopefully, it will be fully restocked as summer is only beginning.
