Hello beauties!  How many times have you gone shopping for a specific beauty product only to leave feeling like everything is just way too expensive to build an effective regime?  Well, never fear because today's post is all about the best ways to save all while looking and feeling like you indulged in a total splurge.  Let me first say that there are certain skincare and makeup items that are one-hundred percent worth every single penny.  What they do for you and your skin is sometimes immeasurable and not to be overlooked.  These three items (here, here and here) are a few I would never be without.  Still so many other times, you can most definitely save tons of money while still providing your skin with just as many beautiful benefits (or sometimes even more!).  So, let's dive in and take a look at these top Save vs. Splurge items I'm loving right now.

This hair oil mist has done soooo much for my hair in relatively no time at all.  That says a lot coming from a girl who swore by this oil for nearly $100 a pop.  Since I've been using this one, my hair is super silky, easy to style and oh so shiny.  I also notice that while I've been using it, my hair seems to be growing like a weed!

Long lashes are a girl's best friend and so is a great primer.  I used to only swear by this one but once I came across L'oreal's version, I've never looked back.  It coats and conditions your lashes every time you use it, leading to healthy long lashes that never fall out or break.

This lipstain is the one I've been using for probably a decade, haha.  And in all that time, it has never let me down.  From the time I put it on to the end of my work day, it stays put.  No peeling, no cracking and no dry, uncomfortable lips.  Just a glossy, colorful smile which is exactly how I like it.

Skincare is so very important from your teens until forever and not an area where you want to skimp. This line knows that and has created several products that are highly effective and beyond affordable. Once opened, they do have a quick shelf life but if you use them routinely, that is not a problem.

The rest of the products shown here are available in the links below.  I know that if you love a well-performing product and enjoy saving money then you're going to wonder how you ever lived without these.  Happy savings!

Happy Halloween loves!  This holiday has been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember for equally as many reasons.  It brings back so many wonderful memories from childhood like dusky treks for oodles of chocolate, a reason to dress up in ways that would never been acceptable otherwise, a huge opportunity to get my hands on my mother's makeup as a little girl and it is the gateway to the holiday season.  Today I wanted to take the chance to highlight one classic makeup style that can be exaggerated on a fun day and night like this or elegantly worn every or any day.  The cat eye is an iconic look done so memorably by Twiggy and fabulously today by the every girl.  While it may look daunting to achieve it is actually pretty simple to pull off.  Want to know the single trick that makes it a snap?  Scotch tape.  Yes, that's all.  While I could go into a long and detailed explanation about how to do it, this nine step photo tutorial above does it perfectly.  Who knew that an office staple could be such a beauty bag must-have.  Trust me and try it.  Some other amazing products I love and use daily are linked below.  Whether your style be daring or demure these are some beautiful ways to get there.  Hope you're enjoying a wonderful start to the week!

It's no secret that I am a bonafide beauty junkie, always thrilling in the discovery of the best of the bunch when it comes to ways to pamper and perfect.  Makeup looks are also something I tend to fall in love with and one of my most-loved is the perfectly lined eye.  Cleanly defined with a striking swipe of ebony, this look goes back more than half a century ago when women were coyly playful and their makeup look served as the perfect match.  The look still stands strong today, from modern day icons like Adele to everyday girl bloggers like Jenny Cipoletti and Chriselle Lim, making it a most-coveted glamorous look.  The secret lies in a strong tipped pen liner, steady hand and lush shade of black.  My favorite pick for getting the job done has been Stila's "Stay the Day" liquid pen liner.  Recently, however, I discovered this unassuming little gem from Sephora.  It's actually half the price of my original choice and works (dare I say) even better.  It's definitely worth a look.  Other must-haves for getting this look right are a nude or white shadow, really great mascara and stay put eyebrow pencil to frame the look out.  With tools in hand, the how-to is next.  While I don't have my own step by step video on how to create this look, this one here by Michelle Phan gives easy steps for doing it yourself.  Take a look and if you feel inspired try these products linked below to get the look at home.

Have a beautiful Wednesday!

While I admit to loving a great beauty indulgence just as much as the next girl, I have to say there are many, many excellent finds to be had at the local drugstore.  Having shopped both the high and low end options, I've discovered that much like mixing your wardrobe pieces to create a fantastic look, you can do the same with your beauty routine.  The results are equally impressive.  Here's my list of what to try:

One drugstore must-have I can't live without is this moisture-infusing cream that hydrates my skin from head to toe leaving it soft, supple and free from winter's wrath.  I haven't been able to skip a day since my derm recommended it for my super dry skin.  Having tried a ton of the cosmetic counter foundations, I have definitely found a few faves (here and here).  That said, I have recently come across this creamy, dreamy, HD-like quality  formula from Cover Girl and Olay.  I love how it blurs skin out to airbrushed perfection!  I've also found this incredible hairspray.  It locks in your look with memory and is completely brushable.  Definitely a win-win.  Another is this ah-mazing lash primer and mascara duo from L'oreal. Wow!  As a long time Lancome girl, it speaks volumes for me to feel this way about any other line, let alone a much less pricey one.  Again, wow! If you love to bat some full and flirty fringe, it's certainly worth a try.  These nail polishes are my absolute favorite, likely because of their smooth application and the endless array of delicious colors.  Still there are more great steals to be had.  You can shop them all above and below and let me know your most-loved picks.

Wishing you a lovely weekend!

Holiday time is the perfect time to add some dazzle to your beauty routine.  These winter party looks are some of my absolute favorites from the angelic to the vixen.  As always the bold lip and smokey eye are major players.  This Bobbi Brown palette is all you need to achieve that sultry flirty fringe.  The colors work effortlessly and let everyone achieve professional looking results.  This mascara brand is also my favorite.  Nordstrom is packaging this fabulous set at an unbelievable savings.  A classic red lip is always a good idea for party nights out.  My go-to favorite is the iconic YSL Rouge Volupté.  The pigment is rich and bursting with hydration and the color is absolute perfection.  Don't underestimate the power of a subtle bit of highlighting.  This magic little pen packs uplighting in a tube.  Carefully place a small bit on the cupid's bow, at the arch of your brow and on the high sweep of your cheekbones. Simply stunning!

If there's one thing I can never get enough of, it is trying out the latest and greatest in beauty products.  It doesn't take much for me to instantly channel my inner Eva Chen.  Today I'm sharing my latest loves and classic favorites that would make the perfect choice for holiday gifting too.  One way to always get it right is with a beautiful fragrance.  Jo Malone offers some of the loveliest choices including her gorgeous Peony & Blush Suede (also loving this one too).  These palettes for eyes and for lips are perfect sizes for both home and travel.  My favorite red lipstick is pretty all year round but especially so at holiday time.  It lights up any outfit and is instantly party ready.  Last, you can toss all these pretties into this glam little makeup bag for the just right dash of sparkle and glam (this one is adorable too).

Friday is here and today I'm sharing my top beauty favorites that I reach for daily and love to pieces.  From lips to lashes, these products are so good at what they do.  Some are a little more expensive while others are true beauty bargains but each one is definitely worth every penny.   This primer is what I use every morning before applying my makeup.  I just love its creamy, smooth texture that melts right into my skin leaving it with this silken finish that's ready to be makeup optional.  Even on those days when I prefer to wear very little or no makeup, I never want to be without concealer.  I've quite possibly tried every one out there and none have worked the magic that this Bobbi Brown duo can achieve.  The corrector and concealer kit is absolutely amazing!  I love how it fixes any sort of undereye discoloration with the corrector and then wakes up the area with the brightening properties of the concealer.  Perfection.  Lashes are another must-have for me and while there are quite a few really good mascaras out there (here, here and here) none have ever measured up to the length, definition and lushness that I get from Lancome.  They really have won me over.  If you give this formula a try, I'm willing to bet they'll have your vote too.  Finally, is there anything Tory Burch isn't pure genius about?  What started as a love affair with gold emblem flats and grew into total handbag happiness has now become all about beauty.  Tory Burch's beauty line is gorgeous and this sweet little compact brush is simply perfect for tossing in my bag and using on the go.    What are your current beauty loves?

Have a beautiful weekend!

Like so many well-known things, beauty really is a girl's best friend.  There's so much to love that it never gets old.  Today I'm highlighting the basic three elements that are the essentials when it comes to any beauty routine (skincare aside, as that is a whole other ballgame).  Lips, eyes and hair, those are the focal points everyone sees when they look at you.  I say let's make sure they always shine, sparkle and flow.

As somewhat (ok, a major) self-proclaimed beauty junkie, I find myself routinely reaching for the latest innovators while incessantly following the instagram of Eva Chen.  That girl knows a thing or two about beauty for sure.  Through it all, I am always finding new items fit for falling in love with.  This leave-in conditioner  from J.Crew is definitely on that list.  What started with RMS beauty is steadily evolving into a cult following for the much-loved by me brand.  These little charmings are also hard to resist.

Another up and coming brand that I'm really into right now is It Cosmetics.  Born out of a true entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality, this little powerhouse is making major headlines and gaining speed.  Everything I've tried from the line so far is fantastic.  I'm especially enjoying this brilliant little face framing brow tool.

Finally, my favorite of the moment beauty crush is the YSL lip.  It lights up the face like nothing else and looks just runway perfect.  I simply adore it.  What beauty all-stars are you loving lately?  Hope you're having a great week so far and thanks for visiting!

While the stars get ready for the red carpet this weekend, I thought I'd put together a quick and easy little how-to on how to get your own "Wow!" worthy lashes.  When I think of my desert island products two things come to mind, lips and lashes.  Even if all you wear are these two beauty powerhouses, you'll be sure to attract some admiring glances.  Surprisingly, they can do all you need if you just remember a few key steps.

Let's talk lashes…

These four fast fixes will have you batting that feminine fringe even if you don't have lashes that are naturally long and lush.

1.  TIGHTLINE IT:  Think of someone with thick, full hair and then someone else whose is fine or thin.  Notice the difference in their parts.  The thick haired one has a part that's hard to find but the fine haired person has a part that is easy to spot.  The same goes for your lashes but the good news is you can make them look full and thick.  How to do it: Line the inner rim with a black waterproof liner like It Cosmetics' Tightline or Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

2.  ADD DEPTH:  Once you add dimension to the roots of your lashes, close the deal by adding a thin {or thick if you prefer} line atop your lash line on the upper lid.  Take care to stay close to the lash whether going thick or thin as this will assure that you have perfectly provided the illusion of a lush lash line by filling in any and all gaps.  One to try: Lancome Le Crayon Khol

3.  CURL'EM UP:  This step is crucial as it lifts lashes and opens up the eye for a powerful effect.  If you're new to curling your lashes be sure you work slowly and carefully.  Start with a gentle squeeze at the base and then release.  Inch up towards the tips gently squeezing and releasing as you go.  More experienced lash curlers can try the advanced class version of gently warming your curler up with a short burst of air from your blowdryer.  This can be dangerous, however, if you are new to this technique so proceed carefully and always test the curler on the back of your hand before ever holding it near your eyes.  Begin with one of these by: Kevin Aucoin or Shiseido

4.  PRIME & PAINT:  Finally, you are ready to add mascara.  One thing I always do first, however, is swipe on a great primer.  It takes mere seconds to apply and the benefits are immeasurable.  Soften, strengthen and even lengthen your lashes with the help of what is essentially a conditioner for your lashes.  The fibers will also protect and thicken what's naturally yours.  Then, swipe on a coat or two of your favorite black or black/brown mascara, as even blondes and redheads can wear these colors beautifully.  Two you'll love: Lancome Oscillation Powerbooster Primer and Lancome Oscillation Intensity Mascara

And that's it.  It's as easy as one, two, three, four to get the lashes you love!

Let me know how these tips work for you and if you enjoy flashing that fringe.  Have a lovely weekend everyone and thanks so much for reading!
