With the crisp turn of the page, September is here and I find myself completely refreshed, energized and eager to greet all the fantastic opportunities waiting ahead.  The final four months of the year are by far my absolute favorites.  From the change in the weather, to the endless array of autumn-inspired activities this time of the year holds, I find that I can never get enough and just want to celebrate all season.  There's that and the endless array of clothing options that present themselves in the most gorgeous of ways.  I'll be sharing my favorite pieces and the various ways to wear them with you throughout the coming weeks ahead.

For today, I've put together some pieces that I'm currently loving and that can be easily paired to create quite a few September-ready looks you'll enjoy.  First up is the classic tan trench.  I love this piece for so many reasons.  Mainly, because it works easily for both workwear and casual looks like the ones you see here.  And while you can easily pair it with nearly any color, I

 think it perhaps works most effortlessly, and therefore beautifully, with neutral tones.  

Black pieces are always in season but seemingly more so during the autumn and winter months.  I like to give a nod to that by choosing a style that is temperature appropriate while still reflecting the season ahead.  These leather shorts do just that.  I love them styled with a smart white button down or a fitted top like this one here.  The bit of gold detailing at the top adds the ideal amount of interest, elevating the look a little beyond the day to day.

Closet staples like stripes and well-fitting denim are year-round must-haves alongside some updated ballet flats.  A gorgeous camel bag is always on the list for me and now is the perfect time to transition to a lovely suede version like this one.  Gold jewelry and a nice pair of sunglasses that complement your face-shape make up the simple ways to round out the look while adding the final polished touches.

If there's one thing I am when it comes to fashion and style it's a lover of all things classic. While keeping things fresh and up-to-date is key,  I think true style really begins in these classic colors in pieces. I can still remember admiring fashion icons wearing similar styles and shades which have gone on to shape my personal style.

Today I've put together a few pieces that would be perfect and highly appropriate for early fall. The addition of some other transitional pieces like this coat would help take things further into season.  So let's take a look at how style the classics.

For me, when it comes to autumn, it's always all about the turtleneck. Fine gauge knits start me off each September as they are so breathable and easily layered.  This gorgeous version would work so well with many of the pieces you probably already own.  I love it here with these tan trousers which would be perfect for daytime or drinks depending how you style it.  This pair of loafers would be just the thing for keeping the look casual and smart.

Going with a monochromatic vision is always a good idea as long as you add some bits of interest via another color.  Here I went with the obvious choice of black in most of my accessories as well as this coat.   There is just something about a lapel collar outerwear piece that elevates any look even if it's just jeans and a T-shirt.  Because of that, I definitely recommend it as a good investment come fall.

Hello Wednesday and to all of you!  Tomorrow is the first day of October which is quite possibly my most favorite month of the year (with the exception of December of course!).  But honestly, number ten is gorgeous in more ways than any of us can count I'm sure.  From the colors to the foods to the fall bucket list favorites, it is simply the best.  Of course, no month or time of year would ever be complete without mentioning the clothes for the season.  And it doesn't get any better than fall.

This look I'm sharing today is perhaps the quintessential color pairing for October, black and tan.  I don't even know quite where to begin on this one other than to say that it evolves into the chicest, most well-worn looks, ever.  Yes, I'm that passionate about it, haha.  In fact, the only other color pairing I can think of that is near as striking is navy and camel.  Can you see the similarity in the two?  Well, I never did say that my tastes were all that varied, haha.  I guess you know what you love and embrace it in all its beautiful glory.

So, with colors this basic, there needs to be a number of gorgeous ways to wear them.  And trust me there are.  Otherwise, things could get a bit boring which is something that I have never experienced with clothes.  Have you?   What I really love besides the look of these colors together is, that no matter what your budget, you can find pieces in these shades that will work for you.

Starting off on the high end, there is this pretty sweater.  I love the colors of course and am particularly fond of the blouson sleeve detailing.  I think it is such a flattering silhouette and something I often gravitate towards in many fabrics.  If you want a piece that is also very lovely yet a bit more affordable, I do recommend this one.  It is such a classic and an incredibly versatile piece that will work with a blazer, black denim or a shorter skirt and over the knee boots.  I've worn it all three ways and can't quite pick a favorite.

Trousers and jeans both get great mileage with any of these pieces.  You can dress them up with pretty, feminine tops or keep them casual as is the case with any of these pieces you see here today.  They also love flats, heels, ankle boots and trainers alike.  It all works which is always a very good thing.

Last, is the camel coat.  Now, of course, that shade can be easily interchanged for the classic black.  But, hands down, these are my favorite colors when it comes to chic toppers.  This one is just absolutley gorgeous and makes me happy in so many ways.  I can see it with blue denim, a white blouse and nude pumps as well as any of these cozy sweaters when the chill sets in.  And, the black version is what I know I'll be wearing come late fall and all throughout winter along with a beanie and combat boots when snowy days are here.

Have you ever seen those women who make getting dressed and looking fabulous seem so darn effortless?  Well, today I'm going to share with you the secret to how it's done.  Trust me it is so simple you'll be doing it too as soon as this read is over.  

So there's one thing I've noticed about every chic little outfit I've ever seen worn and that is that it follows the Rule of Three.  It's somewhat of an unspoken rule which is why I find it often alludes so many but nevertheless it is real. 

Let's take today's look as an example.  When you look at it, do you notice how it incorporates a color scheme of only 2 - 3 colors?  This my friends is purposeful aka very deliberate.  By only working with basic black and shades of camel you have an enormous range of play to work with.  Black, of course, goes with everyyyything and its perfect, perfect partner is always going to be camel.  But from there, you can lighten the hue with a piece like this sweater (which is on MAJOR sale) or you can just as easily stick with the classic two-color combo while adding in some delicate gold jewelry to it polish off.  I'm currently obsessed with this brand.

Neutrals work beautifully together which is why they have always been a girl's best friend.  When you're picking them out for your wardrobe you will never ever go wrong nor will you be disappointed.  I promise.  They can follow the Rule of Three with such ease that they almost make you wonder why any other color would even be necessary. Ever.  In my opinion, they're not...unless you're craving a feminine feel like pink would give or want to make a bold statement via some pretty jewel tones.  Colors like that can feel like a neutral, but only a slight bit louder, if you pair them with other basics like black, greys or ivories.  

All of those looks would be equally brilliant as they easily allow you to build your outfit around just two to three colors max.  Black, grey and winter white...navy, black and slate...caramel, brown and cream...burgundy, black and charcoal...denim, white and tan.  Oh, the possibilities are seasonless as well as never-ending.  Which is something I absolutely love.  

That's how chic and simple it honestly is.  Choose a basic neutral and two complementary hues and build a beautiful outfit around it.  Remember to always tie in those same neutrals into your accessories and the three-color palette you've chosen and that will keep you from ever looking overdone.  Elegant, effortless and best of all, easily achievable.  That is a rule I will always follow.
