Happy Monday! Recently, I've been getting a lot of questions about the best pieces to invest in when you want to create a simple and chic closet that works overtime to curate classic looks all season long. So, today I'm putting together the key pieces I personally love and reach for during the fall and sometimes all year round.
Number one on my list is a camel coat. While this staple can have the reputation of coming with a steep price tag, that isn't always necessarily true. Luckily, there are options to suit every price range when it comes to this beautiful coat.
Now, if you live in a warm climate where this cozy layer is simply not an option then I'd be reaching for yes, you guessed it, the blazer. This iconic piece will take you everywhere you need to go and will effortlessly work with everything you own whether casual, classic, edgy, sporty or elegant. It is one piece that has stood the test of time and can work in every wardrobe regardless of your personal style.
With a gorgeous coat or jacket at the ready, it almost might not even matter what you're wearing underneath because the jacket will steal the show! But, of course, we want to keep the look going. So, I always love having an assortment of solid, neutral-toned sweaters to play with. You know how much I adore my neutrals and honestly, they never disappoint. This charcoal turtleneck is so perfect for right now and would layer beautifully under that camel coat or look fantastic paired with trousers or jeans.
Speaking of which, both well-made trousers and classic denim are two other ways to extend the mileage your basics afford you. Sweaters, shirts, blouses and cardis all love them and easily pair with either to make for a beautiful, casual look.
Last, shoes and accessories are left to round out the look. So, for me, I love investing in a classic flat, a trending pair of sneakers and a dressier ankle boot. When I have all these options at the ready, I can then very easily mix and match them with all the pieces in my closet to create a variety of looks to suit my current mood. A leather tote is a must-have for me as it also works with so many of the looks I find myself creating. And finally, a classic, warm and comfy scarf will always tie a look together while adding a much-loved sense of style.
