white denim

Casual has become the new uniform and honestly, I am quite thrilled about that.  While I'll likely always be someone who loves getting dressed and putting outfits together, I think that the more low-key vibes we are seeing are really something we can all be happy about.  No matter your personal taste or favorite way of styling yourself, less pretense means more authentic styles which is honestly one of the main reasons I fell in love with fashion in the first place.

With spring finally making an appearance, I thought it might be time to begin styling some of my warmer weather favorites in anticipation of what's to come.  Thankfuly, many of us may be planning to spend more time in so many of the fun places we remember enjoying and these pieces here will be perfect for that.

Let's talk first about this shirtdress.  This piece has been something we've seen year after year yet somehow it never seems to loose its allure.  I happen to like it styled a bunch of different ways.  From  wearing it with a classic pair of summer sandals and a neutral tote bag to throwing it on with a jacket and a pair of trainers, there really is no wrong way to go.

Neutrals, you know, are my favorite wardrobe staple and light colored jeans really earn their spot in my closet all spring and summer long.  Now, whether you prefer white or a perhaps easier on the eye shade of cream, this is still going to be a piece that will pair quite nicely with so much of what you already own and  love to wear daily.

This sleeveless summer sweater is something I find absolutely adorable and is completely versatile which I love.  It would be the perfect thing to reach for with these trousers as well as really cute worn over a nice midi length skirt with some summer slides and this hat.

Balance everything out with a great looking handbag that you can easily mix and match with several different outfits and you have enough pieces to build several casual looks with.

Styling should always be easy and simple all while leaving you feeling fresh and ready for anything.  Hope you find something you love too and enjoy wearing it well!

xx,

Monday always seems like a good day to start with the simple.  That's true for outfit options too.  A few easy pieces are sometimes all it takes to create a look you love.  These soft shades and a nod to spring are exactly what I'm craving right now.

Embellished collars have been on my radar for awhile now and this dusty blue cardigan is such a great example of why.  It's from & Other Stories which is a one-stop spot I cannot get enough of.  If you've never checked them out, I highly recommend checking their goodies out.

White denim is back in the fold.  Honestly, did it ever leave? Haha, so glad those old rules no longer apply and this pair is one reason why.  I love how easy they are to wear with just about everything and become the perfect backdrop for prints, neutrals or bright, bold pieces.  Such a classic look and I really love them styled with the creams and cognacs you see here.

I don't know about you but I'm already thinking about my spring jacket collection and refreshing a few pieces.  One option I always love having though is a gorgeous trenchcoat.  Black and tan both work beautifully on everyone but my true favorite is the tried and true camel version.  Double-breasted and belted, it is a foolproof piece that adds a touch of classic style to any look.

Once you've built your outfit of the day, nothing's better than finishing it off with your favorite added touches.  I've always loved accessories and now I realize why.  They are the easiest and most fun way to add your personality to whatever you are wearing.  For me that means sunnies (obsessed with this pair right now) of course, my favorite sneakers and a classic handbag.

So many great choices, now we just need spring to get here! Happy Monday everyone!

Happy Friday! With the (unofficial) last weekend of summer nearly upon us, I am beginning to rethink my wardrobe as I organize my closet favorites for fall.  Along with that comes the yearly conundrum of is it right to wear "White after Labor Day?"  While the rules have certainly softened over time, it's always surprising how many people still ask about whether the once famous fashion faux pas is still one to avoid.  For me, I believe that we each need to embrace our own style and fashion choices.  If that means white in fall, I say bring it on!  As summer wanes prior to Labor Day there are always the many obvious ways to wear it.  These white jeans look effortless and chic paired with a classic chambray shirt (love this one), an easy pair of slip ons, strand of pearls and a yummy caramel tote.  I also love and often (ok, constantly) wear these white jeans with navy and white stripes.  So classic and a never fail go to for sure.  Later on, when the weather starts to gather a chill, I love the look of white denim, topped with layers.  Shades of grey and cozy fabrics were made to meet up with white bottoms.  This sweater is going to be perfect for that.  Hats, caps and fuzzy knits all strike the absolute right contrast with the summertime favorite.  Is it me or has the white skinny suddenly become the fall fashion fave too?  Love to hear your thoughts on this longtime wardrobe rule(breaker).  Hope you all enjoy the perfect weekend!!

In honor of the French's celebration of Bastille Day, I've drawn upon Parisian perfection and put together a collection of my favorite French-inspired looks.  The staples of French girl style are simple and elegant which is why they come together so stunningly.  The simplicity of it all is what I find so alluring and surprisingly easy to emulate.  These five pieces are really all you need to complete the look.  A striped tee…preferably done in navy or black and white this piece can be dressed up (hello pencil skirt) or down (think boyfriend jeans) and always looks right.  The skinny white pant…we're not talking skintight but just fitted enough to complement your curves.  A classic jacket…it's the understated piece that never fades and ties the look together.  A chic little clutch…aka the world of Clare Vivier.  Need I say more?  Black sunnies…protecting your eyes while looking camera ready, what could be better.  But seriously, French women know their way around their closet and the beauty counter which is why their skin remains baby-soft and oh-so fair decades past their teens and twenties.

Hope you're feeling inspired by this French girl style as much as I am.  If so, you can try putting together your own look with the items below.  Happy Wednesday!

Blue hues captivate me quite unlike any other.  From wardrobe to home decor, the elements of their gorgeous beauty are striking and plenty.  Nautical vibes always shout springtime and this gauzy sweater in white and navy stripes would be perfect for a late season walk along the beach.  This denim jacket is also on my list of closet refreshers.  Its lighter, slightly distressed look and easy, fresh fit feel make it just right for updating your look right now.  These booties are also perfect for transitioning from the freezing temps to the slowly warming temps.  I especially love the way they look with these white jeans (a definite must-have!)  If you know me at all then you also know that I have such a soft spot for summer dresses and flirty skirts.  This Tory Burch blue and white beach dress is a little bit of a splurge but so effortlessly chic.  I'm also loving this similar style at only a fraction of the cost and absolutely adorable. I can't forget the importance and well, if I'm honest, downright addictiveness of color saturated shoes and accessories.  These wedges are showing up everywhere and it's definitely easy to see why.  I can't get enough of the bucket bag either and this blue version would be beautiful paired with those spring and summer whites.

Wishing you a lovely first weekend of spring!

Happy Friday!  Who doesn't love the arrival of the weekend, especially when it's a long one!  It's also a winter weekend which means it is a perfect time to wrap yourself up in the loveliness of winter white.  This cozy turtleneck is so soft and comfy and looks so casually cute paired with your favorite black leggings and pretty riding boots (love these!).  White denim can happen during the coldest months.  I just always take care to reach for the heavier weight fabrics and save the lighter ones for spring and summer.  These J. Crew skinnies pair well with a thick cream sweater or fun faux fur vest.  I also love them worn with a camel cape like this one or a gorgeous candy colored topper.  The possibilities are just endless when it comes to this neutral hue.

I hope you all have something wonderful planned for your weekend.  Enjoy your me time!

Call me a rule breaker but I just couldn't resist breaking out the white denim before the unofficial start of summer.  Scandalous, I know.  But seriously, I do love the great versatility of crisp white denim in all its forms.  White jeans are a blank canvas just waiting for you to craft your OOTD masterpiece upon them.  Today's post shares some of my most-loved ways to do just that.  Indigo chambray is always a classic option with white, especially when paired with a bit of yellow or red and some navy and white stripes {hello nautical!}.  Another look I always find I'm reaching for is one that involves a blush and white combo.  Soft, romantic, feminine and perfect for now.  In a word, heavenly.
And should it seem the white jean gets all the attention, let's not forget the white denim mini.  I love its perfect feel beneath my favorite boyfriend blouse on a warm summer's night after a memorable day on the beach.

ON TREND: The Five Looks to Try Now

It's finally starting to feel like spring and I'm so thrilled!  Peeling off the layers can feel great, especially when you replace them with lighter pieces you love.  Don't let the first gentle days of the season leave you searching your closet, wondering what to wear.  Instead, try incorporating some element of these trends into your daily go-to look.

Preppy neutrals and a bright pop are always springtime perfect.

White denim and contrasting stripes are such a pretty complement. A gingham blouse peeking out from beneath and a madras belt round the waist provide just the right amount of pattern mixing.

Just loving these gorgeous MICHAEL KORS cat-eye frames.

Feminine and flirty, I love how this pattern pops when styled like this with a solid silk blouse and brightly colored clutch.

Here's to hoping these pretty picks leave you feeling spring-inspired.  Have a lovely Monday!
