summer skincare

Hello and happy Monday to you!  Hoping that everyone had a nice weekend spent doing something you all love.  My included a lot of sun as it was a complete sizzler here on the east coast.  Summer sun and heat can feel good on our bodies but can also be punishing on our skin and hair.  Today I am sharing with you some of the ways I go about making sure my hair and skin never fry throughout these summer days.  Not sure if you've been beauty shopping lately but there are some incredible products out there right now that can get the job done and more on the way.  For starters, I always think that a hat and sunnies are the best way to be certain your salon scored highlights and delicate eye area stay unharmed.  That being said, it is also crucial that you apply a really good sunscreen (some of my favorites and most-trusted here, here and here).  Beyond that though, I always find that I often want to treat myself to extra summertime pampering that keeps everything in tip top shape.  This mask is ah-mazing.  Unlike those that just slough or hydrate, this little gem first buffs to brighten the skin then uses natural oils to restore the lipid barrier and replenish your skin's natural balance.  Yes, it is heavenly.  To keep my face feeling freshly hydrated on hot days, I love using creams that continue to plump and protect throughout the day.  This one from Bobbi Brown is one of my favorites.  When a cosmetic company like hers first came out with skincare I will say that I was for sure skeptical.  Knowing how much Bobbi adores what she does and the clients she serves, I decided to look into things further and I am always so happy I did.  With skin-loving ingredients like shea butter and olive oil at the top of the ingredients list, this little jar of wonder works to moisturize beautifully without ever feeling heavy.  Needless to say, my face loves it.  My hair also gets a lot of love during the summertime.  This scalp scrub is something I don't know how I ever got along without, haha.  Our scalp perspires much more in summer and needs a way to rid itself of what could otherwise become buildup.  The coconut and charcoal combo in this scrub treat your hair and scalp to the perfect cleanse without stripping away the natural oils we need.  My feels freshly hydrated, swingy and shines like a new mani.  A nourishing body wash, body oil and lip balm round out the rest of my summer skin and hair survival must-haves.

What's in your summer beauty bag?  I'd love to hear about your most-loved products too!

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and that is true for beauty products as well.  From big tubs of creamy lush goodness to tiny bottles of precious captured youth, there are so many wonderful ways to treat, protect and nourish your skin from head to toe.  Today's post is dedicated to just that and features some of my favorites that I (and my complexion!) are loving throughout these to summer months.

A pH balancing cleanser is an essential step in every effective skincare routine.  This one fits the bill.  It removes makeup and impurities while keeping the skin's delicate pH levels in balance.  I also really enjoy a rich and creamy deep cleanse.  This option  from Drunk Elephant is simply luscious.

Skin oils are also a major love of mine.  Indie Lee's facial oil is a purist's dream as its 100% Squalane formula intensely hydrates and revitalizes sun-soaked skin.  And with so much sunshine all around us this time of year, a good for you SPF is a must. This is one I've shared before and I continue to use it faithfully.  It controls shine, blocks harmful rays and buffs beautifully all in one swipe.

Just like our bodies, our facial muscles also benefit from a little massage.  This jade roller works beautifully with this emerald oil to get your glow going.  I can't say enough about how impacting these small steps are when it comes to seeing major improvements in your skin.  I love the results they've given to mine!

Hope everyone's been have a wonderful week...Thanks for sharing part of it with me!

Summer's here and the living is easy but that may not always be true for your skin this time year.  Summer months are filled with everything we love to do including the surf, sand and sunshine but these much loved pastimes are not so sweet on our skin.  Not to worry though because with a little extra tlc, you can protect, pamper and prevent  unnecessary damage to your skin.

Rule number one is to always prep your skin to fully receive any of the products and treatments you're currently using in your routine.  A balanced essence will help to allow your skin to accept the nutrients and goodness your products can provide.  This one blends glycolic acid and grape water to  sweep away dead skin cells and allow products to penetrate to the layers below where they will be truly effective.

During the daytime and especially in summer, protection against both free radicals and sun damage is essential.  A great vitamin c serum and well made physical block sunscreen will ge the job done.  This formula from Dr. Gross has some wonderful skin brightening and firming properties you and your face will love.  Top it with an SPF like this one and you are well prepared to face the day.

Nighttime rituals are a crucial step towards keeping your skin plump, hydrated and youthful.  Try working an effective retinol serum and/or overnight emulsion into your regime.  Sunday Riley has recently marketed this one which I'm looking to try.  I love the fact that it is housed in a dark bottle and  dispensed via a pump.  Air and light have no place in your skincare!  iS Clinical also offers a beautiful blend of peptides, antioxidants and botanicals designed to synergistically energize and rejuvenate your skin while you sleep.  Yes, please!

Finally, excellent little extras such as sheet and eye masks will round out the perfect routine.  I love adding them in every chance I get.  And by the look of things, my skin does too, haha!  I hope you find something to love here that you end up adding to your routine.  I know your summertime skin will thank you.  Have a beautiful day lovelies!
