Hi everyone! How was everyone's weekend? The NYC area finally felt like fall and I was not mad at it, haha.  It was the first weekend of October so naturally, I had to do all the fall things!  Apple and pumpkin picking, cider donuts, hayrides and stocking up on Halloween candy (because yes, I will be sneaking a few, haha).

Hi everyone! How was everyone's weekend? Beauty is such a lovely and wonderful facet of life.  Mostly because it is found always in the eye of the beholder.  That being said, I love all the ways there are to highlight and enhance our natural gorgeousness and glow with the myriad of beauty products available at our fingertips.  One of the best (and sometimes most underrated ways) to achieve that perceived perfection is with the right foundation.  Yes, I said the right one.  While close is good in some cases,  foundation is not one of them.  When it comes to finding your perfect fit, formula, color and application are the key three.  Whether you prefer a light tint, a silky glow or easily buildable coverage, the secret is in the formula.  I've been a big fan of this foundation stick by Bobbi Brown for the longest time.  It's smooth, blendable and its color match can NOT be beat.  I'm also more than a little anxious to try out this one by NARS.  Its reputation for air brushed perfection can't be overlooked. Following the formula of your choice, selecting the right color is essential.  Most lines have this down but my advice is to always, always let someone at the counter test possible colors out on your skin (meaning face not hands or wrist) to find your perfect match.  Lastly, no matter which foundation you decide to go with be sure you discover your best personal method for applying it.  Having tried nearly every method known to youtube (ha!) One of my favorite daily treats is reaching into my makeup bag and pulling out something fun and new to play with.  Great colors, fun kits and new products are always so enticing!  Of course, I have come to love certain products and brands that have become my favorites because of the incredible job they do.  Some of my tried and true must-haves include the iconic Bobbi Brown and her gorgeous palettes.  What I love about Bobbi is the way she makes it so simple for everyone to achieve that natural beauty look.  Her colors are always flattering and the pigments hold true.  Every palette is so well-crafted that even the make-up shy novice can achieve pro-looking results without looking made up.  That being so, I am beyond excited to use her latest Nude on Nude kit made exclusively for Nordstrom.  The twelve mix and match shades can give you everything from a fresh-faced at the beach to a smokey eye that meets him for drinks look.  In order for any make-up line to look its best, you really want your skin to be its healthiest too.  In order to make that happen, proper hydration is a must.  Few creams work more miracles than Creme de la Mer.  Worth every penny.  Other top contenders in my skincare routine are these three pieces from Kate Somerville.  I use the trio whenever I want a vibrant healthy glow.  Naturally, no beauty roundup would be complete without a few results-oriented haircare tools.  I'm personally head over heels for my T3 hairdryer.  Light, quiet and quick, my only regret is that I didn't get it in this lovely shade of pink.  Once my hair is dry, a few quick passes with this single pass compact iron are all my (newly short! more on that another day) hair needs to be styled with sass.   If you're really ready to fall in love, then I recommend getting both pieces with The Party Couple.

Few things get my fashion juices flowing more so than a great sale.  And, when that said savings celebration is hosted by my absolute favorite department store, well let's just say, it's a happy little moment.  This weekend I spent part of my Saturday checking out all the finds at Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale.  I was not disappointed.  Having already checked out the offerings online ahead of time, I had some ideas about what my faves would be this year.  And, despite how wonderful it is to shop from the comfort of your covers in the early morning, I just love to see and feel those items for myself.  Not surprisingly, I loved them in person just as much.  Today I'm sharing my Lucky 13 Must-Haves, some that purchased {like these gorgeous dark chocolate riding boots, this easy-wear cross body bag and this sweet little pendant} and some I'm still wishing for.  Early access shopping for Nordstrom cardholders is happening now and the full sale opens to the public on the 18th. Bargains like these are some of the best of the pre-season but sadly they don't last long.  My advice is that if you see something you know you love, get it for less now.  You'll thank yourself come fall!

Classic and fresh.

While the basic brow tips are well known wide and far: Follow your natural arch, tweeze beneath, fill in (and sometimes above), match your color realistically and, finally, comb up.  The #1 eyebrow grooming tip, however, is always, always, always extend your tail.  As time goes by, we can tend to lose the end of our brow.  When that happens, you also lose the structure, support and youthful definition that well-groomed brows provide.  Your brows in their best form will frame your face beautifully, leaving you looking your natural beauty best.

The tools that will help you get there are simple yet key.  Remember to choose your shade carefully, much like you would your concealer or foundation.  Generally, one shade deeper than your hair color is a safe bet.  Next, decide if you prefer a powder, pencil or pomade style filler.  There's no strict rule on this other than to say that certain skin types do better with particular formulas.  A waxy pencil for example, may not be the best choice for oilier skin types.  Opt instead for a powder.  Another important thing to consider would be, how much help do your brows need?  Just a little filling in?  Then a powder or pencil will work fine.  If your brows are past that point and need a little more love, you'll want to choose a formula that adheres to the hair and skin so as to plump and perfect with beautiful believability.  Other key items in your brow beauty arsenal should include a spoolie (aka an unused, clean mascara wand to fluff and brush upward with), a gel to set your artfully applied handiwork and a well-made tweezer to clean up strays.
