ankle boots

Hello Monday!  So, I noticed something. Can you feel it? That exciting sense that beautiful changes are coming?  It's definitely in the air.  September arrives tomorrow and I am soooo excited!  I've always said that I could never live in California despite its beauty simply because I just love the change of seasons so much, haha.  And, autumn is my absolute favorite one of all.  So much so, it makes me giddy!

That eagerness to turn the page has inspired today's post.  The items that I'm featuring here represent those that make getting dressed something you look forward to because we all know that we are way nicer when our outfit is cute!  Kidding.  But seriously,  I'm always happy when I feel good about what I'm wearing.

So, what are the keys to transitional dressing?  Honestly, it's all about versatility and the ability to pair and wear these items in a variety of ways.  Take the shirtdress for example.  On a warmer day it's perfect with mules, sunnies and a headband.  But, if the temps are cooler it can easily be worn with ankle boots, a long cardigan and a really cute hat (love this one).

The plaid blouse is a fall staple for me.  I love it paired with jeans and a cami so that I can tie it around my waist as the day heats up.  I also can never get enough of a well-fitting cardi sweater.  It can be simply tossed over a tee and leggings alongside your favorite sneakers and baseball cap.  Or it can tag along on date night and be worn over a flowing maxi dress during that after dark stroll.

I love options don't you?  Autumn comes with so many wonderful things to choose from and your closet finds should always be one of them.  What's everyone looking forward to this coming month?   I'm actually working on my fall bucket list right now.  My only wish is that it lasted longer than a few months!  Hope you're having a great day doing whatever it is you love...

If you’re only looking to add a few pieces to your wardrobe then you’re going to want to get the most bang for your buck. And whether you want to spend a lot or a little, you will want to grab a set of interchangeable pieces that work together in multiple ways with maximum potential.  Neutral shades and “the new neutral” patterns are what will work effortless towards creating the most style-inspired looks all from the streamlined closet. You will have them saying, “I’ve never seen her in the same outfit” every time you walk by, haha.

So, to do that I always try and pick the items that are in the shades, colors, patterns and styles that I know I live in and can easily adapt in a variety of ways. Basic tanks, cute camis, everyday tees, jeans, a great jacket and chic little sneakers are the perfect jump-off point for me. As the weather trends cooler, add in a cozy cardigan along with some ankle boots and voila! You’re ready for whatever the day brings.

I often find that if you know what to buy and how best to style it for your personal taste and persona then you basically own the game.  What pieces do you all love when streamlining your style?  I'd love to know!  Have a great Monday everyone!

This time of year and heading into pre-fall can be tricky for dressing.  I always find that I want to wear some cute new pieces but the weather is still summery and hot.  These pieces are the perfect solution to that little dilemma!  So, we all know and adore the summer sundress.  Now that fall is on the horizon, long sleeve flowly dresses have all my attention.  This one is on sale now at Nordstrom as a part of their Anniversary Sale and is ringing up at less than $35.  I would wear it now with these mules which you guys know I love, haha and this bag.  I think that this hat would be adorable with it (or pretty much anything I own!) and then this jacket and these booties when the chill is in the air.  I personally love wear now/wear later pieces because not only do they look cute whenever you wear them, they also add tonssss of mileage to your closet.  And that is something we can all agree on, haha!

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday and a great weekend ahead!

There's something about February that makes me want all things pink, sandy blonde, pale washed denim, burgundy and coral right now.  I think it's the lure of that undefined time between winter and spring where you're longing for spring yet not quite ready to peel back all the layers just yet.  So, these pieces offer me a solution that makes me and my closet happy.  This top from Veronica Beard is so adorable and perfect for right now.  The colors are sunshine in stripes and I am a huge fan of the puff shoulder.  I'm thinking it'd be so cute paired with these denim bottoms.  I love the softer shade and torn detailing. And the fact that they are under under $100 is unbelievable but I won't complain, haha.  Since it's still super chilly here on the east coast, this sweater is the perfect thing to reach for right now.  I love these blonde ankle boots and this bag to go with it.  For a more budget-friendly option you might like this one too.  A bold newsboy cap, cool-toned aviators and this gold watch pull all the pieces together effortlessly well.

Anyone else enjoying these ways to beat the February blahs?  Hope you're enjoying the week and making plans for the weekend...see you on Friday!

Hello Wednesday!  Time for some midweek inspo that's perfect for now.  I recently wore this outfit and got compliments everywhere I went.  So, I decided to share these simple pieces and show how to turn them into a complete look.  When it comes to sweaters, it's all in the details...primarily the simple details.  Side slit hems, cropped sleeves and drop shoulders all come together to make this one a great staple.  I paired it with these wide leg cropped jeans and these cognac ankle boots, another wardrobe workhorse.  I added in my favorite bucket bag, this hat and topped it all off with a beautiful plaid coat and was toasty warm and ready for a casual workday.  Don't you just love when things come together so easily like that?  I thought so, me too!!

I've linked all the pieces below for you in case any of this has caught your eye.  Hope everyone is enjoying  a wonderful Wednesday and for those of you getting a long weekend, enjoy!

Helloooo Friday!  Time to kick off the weekend so let's do it in style with the best of fall boots.  I don't know about you all but I am a true blue boot girl.  For as much as I love my sneakers, once October rolls in they get a run for their money from all of these pretty picks.  A boot wardrobe is easy to build.  Every style profile from the tomboy to the glam girl can find something to suit her taste.  This no slip rainboot is just as wearable in the pumpkin patch as it is through the puddles.  I love it when a casual option takes the look to the next level.  It's not always easy to come by but this one does it.  Classic low ankle booties really can't be beat and are generally loved by all.  But when you're ready to ramp it up a little these stacked heel numbers (here, here and here) are ready for a girls' night out.  Lastly,  over the knee boots are probably my favorite of all.  Sleek, sexy and able to give the illusion of legs for miles...I mean, what more do you need?  Haha. Like I said, something for everyone.  Wherever your weekend will take you, there's a pair to wear.

Have a great fall weekend everyone!

For as long as I can remember, I've had an ongoing love affair with neutrals.  From gorgeous makeup palettes and buttery handbags to cozy throws and everything about home decor, neutrals will never let you down.    Fall fashion is no exception and these pieces here are some of the subtle reasons why.  An oatmeal sweater like this one will go for miles in your closet.  I love pairing mine with everything from distressed denim to on-trend coats and toppers.  This plaid blazer plays so gorgeously with it.  I also love to work pretty neutral accessories into the look with great hats, watches and belts that add just the right amount of interest.  This newsboy cap is a current favorite of mine and this belt is high on my want list, haha.  Dark sunnies and chic black ankles boots (I need a new pair and have been eyeing these) round out the look.  A swipe of your favorite pinky nude lip color (this one is my go-to) and you're out the door.

Honestly, with morning minutes at a premium, I can't think of an easier way to get yourself out the door while looking and feeling your best.  Anyone have any other easy to wear looks they love?  Please share, haha!  I hope everyone is having a great week so far.  I'll see you all with something you're going to love on Friday!

Hello loves and happy Wednesday!  Hoping the week has been pleasing and productive as you might now be casting one eye towards the weekend.  If there's one thing I just love about weekends in the fall (ok, there are wayyyyyy more than that but, I digress) it's that I'm never at a loss for what to wear.   Whether the days are crisp and cool (the favorite way I like it!) or a bit on the warmer side, you can always style your look to be exactly what you're craving for any occasion at hand.  Ankle boots, borrowed from the boyfriend jeans and this comfy off the shoulder sweater are my go-to for those casual Saturday afternoons.  Casual day date with him?  Try these over the knee suede boots, skinny dark wash denim, this fringe detailed sweater and a cute wide brimmed floppy.  This color combo works...Every.Single.Time.  I'm loving this Marc Jacobs cross body.  It's the perfect size and statement for running those weekend errands.  And when it comes to fall beauty, I'm all about soft, warm colors.  This lipstick and these gorgeous shadows speak volumes to me right now.  Check out the entire line of pretty right here.

Anybody else a total fall fanatic like me?  Haha, I'd love to hear all about it!  Wishing you sweetness and smiles until next time...

It's officially fall and I couldn't be happier!  Autumn right up through Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year.  Apple picking, pumpkin time, gorgeous fall landscapes, wood burning fires, football, cozy socks, cuddling up, cooking, comfort foods, football and holiday cheer…all of these incredible things are just some of the reasons why.  Not to be left unnoticed, the fall canvas of clothing is always the year's absolute best.  Now that the season has fully arrived, you'll be seeing me post my most-loved looks, pieces and accessories in the weeks ahead.  Today I'm sharing one of my other greatest loves which is, the ankle boot.  This shoe has become the go-to look of the season and it's no wonder.  Anyone can wear it and (even better) in any way they like.  Personally, I love slipping mine on bare-legged and with the great swingy skirts and flowy dresses I'm loving this month.  It's a completely transitional look that allows you to look of-the-moment while feeling totally comfortable.  What's especially wonderful about this year's options is that heel heights are ranging everywhere from flat to tall and stacked to skinny.  This pair from Ralph Lauren has been on major repeat for me.  Easy to wear and so cute.  I'm also loving this saddle stitch open toe version from Tory Burch.  The color alone is enough to make one obsess.  Stacked heels, vintage mod and suede wedge styles are all quite crush-worthy and on my radar right now.  Cuffed ankle pants, flowy dresses, skinny jeans and shirt dresses all feel equally the same about this little bootie. I guess love is in the air!

Happy Monday, lovelies!  Fall officially begins tonight and there's no better way I can think of to kick it off than with the most gorgeous selection of boots available this season.  These are my top picks featuring all the must-have colors and styles you'll need to finish off your fall and winter looks.  While the riding boot will always be a much loved classic we all own, these sister styles are the ones stealing the show this time.  From cowboy to moto, ankle boots are the hottest thing hitting the pavement right now.  With absolutely every designer and brand drawing up their own version of this scene stealer, there's definitely something for everybody to love.  For me that would include a few coveted choices starting with the Billie Boot from Madewell.  The classie color and timeless style of this boot make it so easy to wear and simple to pair with everything from tunic style silk shirtdresses to skinny jeans and a soft flannel.  These Dolce Vita suede booties are on my wish list.  I love their casual appeal and think they be perfect with denim, plaid and a fabulous fur vest.  Last, when Saturday night rolls around these beautiful J. Crew Collection calf hair ankle boots are what I'll be reaching for.  I love them with a curve loving black pencil skirt, gold accent jewelry and a fitted leather jacket.
How about you?  What's your boot style this season?

Wishing you all a lovely Monday and thanks for reading!

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all enjoyed a lovely weekend.  It's a Madewell Monday on Chic Saturday.  Today I'm sharing my top favorite picks from the street-styled, tomboyish sister store of J. Crew.  Honestly, there's often very little from their offerings that I don't adore.  Easy to wear pieces, on-trend looks and an underlying sense of preppy gone cool, Madewell makes getting dressed fun and simple.   I love their mix and matchable pieces that are perfect for those days you can let your style show or simply want a laid back feel.  This plaid flannel is what I'll reach for when I want to be cozy.  Always the bookworm, these tortoise rimmed frames sit on my nightstand ready to help me sport the look.  Add this clutch in and just like that, the librarian cliché is working.  French verbiage is something I can never get enough of and Madewell completely understands this.  This sweater and this comfy sweatshirt are each on my wish list for fall.      So much to love and so many easy ways to look effortlessly tomboy chic.

Wishing you a beautiful week and thanks so much for reading!

SPRING AWAKENING

With February quickly coming to a close, I find myself combing through my closet with one eye on the past and one on the future.  Transition time is here and while spring's warm days are still a bit away, we can {happily!} begin peeling back the layers and singing , Here Comes the Sun.  Easing into a new season is always such fun and can also be just a easy.  Keep these key steps in mind and you'll soon be stepping into spring…

1. LIGHTEN AND BRIGHTEN: When you can, lighten the layers with simple switches.  While winter's winds call for down jackets and cashmere blends, spring eases up on us, leaving room for softer, thinner fabrics.  Trade your parka for a fresh moto jacket, still warm enough to keep you comfy but with a current, fresh take on the new season.

2.  TAKE IT ONE STEP AT A TIME: While boots keep us warm all fall and winter long and I'm probably their biggest fan, I just cannot wait to slip into some really wonderful ankle boots.  Lately, I've been seeing just so many great cutout styles that can take you from now right into summer.  This pair is currently at the top of my wish list.

3. TELL THE WORLD A COLOR STORY: Color has so many amazing possibilities.  Remember the joy of opening a fresh watercolor set or brand new box of crayons?  Ah, well you can still use color to your advantage daily each time you get dressed.  Now's the perfect time to start moving away from blacks and greys and adding some bits of happiness with pops of sunshine-inspired color.  Hello pinks, blues and yellows!

Ready to open your closet and see it with a fresh pair of eyes?  Me too.  Go ahead and enjoy your grown-up version of dress up.  It's the best way to tell the world who you are without ever saying a word.  Have a beautiful Wednesday everyone!
