We're on the cusp of summer my closet so clearly reflects that.  If you've been following along here then you know by now that my style is reflective two basic elements.  Those being, neutrals and a capsule wardrobe.  I really have to admit that I've never been happier than I am now when it comes to building the looks I want to wear.  And, that's likely because a simple color palette combined with
really good, well-fitting basics let me put together just so many looks I love.

Today's look works off the simple concept of denim paired with some high-low pieces that easily elevate as well as relax an outfit with minimal effort.  I love a great pair of high-waisted denim as it always seems to hug the body in all of the most flattering places.  This pair looks quite nice paired with an easy short sleeve blouse, a pair of sandals and a really gorgeous tote.  I'm obsessing over this one at the minute.

And, you can just as easily take the look out in warmer weather by swiping out jeans for a pair of Bermuda shorts in a nice camel color for summer.  Trainers are always an easy option to dress a look down a bit or take the same pieces out in the evening along with some scrappy sandals and small clutch.

Gold earrings and a gorgeous pair of sunnies are two items can can't seem to go without.  This pair is stunning with nearly everything you might be wearing this season.  And one of my favorite gold jewelry brands has lots of delightful options if you are searching for something similar to these.

I hope these looks and bits of advice inspire you to build a look that is similar and take it with you wherever you are going.  All the pieces mentioned are linked in the thumbnails below.  Please let me know how you like them!

Hello and happy Monday!  I'm not sure about where you are living but I can say for sure that spring has definitely spring here in the NYC area....and I'm loving it.  Now when it comes to any season, for me nothing beats the basics.  Spring is no exception and today I want to take a moment to highlight some of the best spring neutrals I'm enjoying wearing right now.

Despite what was perhaps once true, black is not a winter only staple.  Quite on the contrary, I find all shades of ebony to be year round neutrals that work to accentuate and ultimately tie a look together in such a chic and effortless way.  I love that.

This pair of black denim is one perfect example of why.  I love how flattering the high-waisted cut is and the way I can wear them with just about everything from a basic white tee to a gorgeous flowy blouse like this one I'm sharing here.  The full sleeve and soft neckline are both so feminine and easy to wear.  You can either tuck it in to show off the waistline or wear it out for a really easy spring or summer look.

Basic neutrals that are as simple as these really pair well with some equally understated accessories that have maybe just a bit of interest to draw the eye in and make for a really stylish look.  This headband fits the bill.  I am still a fan of this style from time to time and I think that the bit of animal print sort of ties everything together without being at all crazy or overdone.  If this pattern is not your style, perhaps a pearl accented option might be something you like a bit better.  This one is very pretty too.

Mules are huge again this spring and I'm still wearing them a lot.  This pair is so nicely designed and I love the way the black keeps the flow and feel of the look going from head to toe.  s

Of course, sunnies are a part of the look and this pair is my current favorite.  These croissant hoops have also become some of my most worn lately.  They're also perfect for summer coming up and look really, really nice with a low bun all season long.

Finally, my Chloe C mini bag in taupe would be the perfect one to finish off the entire look with the gold hardware playing so well with the earrings and the soft color perfectly complementing the entire black and white look.

Neutrals and basics are a match made in heaven and I absolutely love them all seasons of the year.  Hope you took something helpful away from today's post.  Have a wonderful day everyone...see you in the next one!

Clearly my love of neutrals is no secret and I think a head to toe neutral look can be so flattering on so many levels.  Today's look features some cool-toned versions along with a beautiful shirt dress which I've styled a bit casually making it perfect for a spring day and the warmer weather we're all hoping to see soon.

These tones complement each other so nicely which is why I'm a fan of easy-to-build neutral looks.  This shirt dress caught my eye with its sleeve-detail, well done buttons and casual belt designed to pull the entire look together despite the fact that you're really only wearing one easy piece.

From there I decided to pull in accessories that work nicely with the brown-black buttons and highlight the classic feel the dress is going for.  Black accessories work nicely here as I think they add just a bit of a nice contrast that still keep with the neutral theme.  These square toe sandals are going to be a big part of my spring-summer collection this year and I'm thinking of picking them up in a few neutral colors.  Black sunglasses are another classic element to so many chic outfits and always a must for me.

A neutral bag is a necessary basic in any closet as it can easily work with so many looks and pieces year-round.  This one is current favorite.  While it is a bit of an investment, it works beautifully and effortlessly with so much of what I own in my wardrobe that I can highly recommend it.  The shape, size and color are perfect with white, cream and black alike and I look the bit of gold detailing with the hardware.

A couple of gold jewelry pieces always finish up the look for me and rings are my favorite jewelry option at the moment.  I find they are the easiest piece as they require no clasping and never compete with any neckline you might be wearing.  They flatter the hands and add just a little touch of elegance to any casual or dressed up outfit.

I hope you enjoy this neutral outfit as much as I do.  As always, I've linked the pieces mentioned above and in the thumbnails below.  Wishing everyone a happy holiday week!

If there is one thing I get asked all the time is undoubtedly, "How can I make this piece look different each time I wear it?" Well, the answer is actually quite simple and it lies in how you accessorize it.  Okay, so if you know me then you likely also know that I am not the girl who overwhelms her outfit with every bit and bangle known toman.  Actually, I'm quite the opposite.  I love having an eye for detail and for me that means subtle, tasteful touches that will elevate a look to its highest good.

When it comes to doing that, I have decided upon ten essential pieces that I think everyone should have in their accessories wardrobe in one form or another.  The style you wish to do them in is a matter of your personal style and taste but these are the top ten ways to take any look to the next level.

No. 1 | The Handbag
I happen to love a versatile, well-made handbag that is made to go the distance and perform flawlessly across a variety of outfit choices.  I am the girl who absolutely loves her luxury handbags so this is an area where I tend to splurge a little bit.  If that is not in the budget for you, there are many, many affordable options that will do just a well.  Some things to look for, no matter what your budget, are a well-made strap, secure seaming and well-performing materials that will hold up to all the wear your bag may be getting.
My Current Fave: LOEWE Bucket Bag

No. 2 |  A Great Hat
I am a big fan of the newsboy cap.  I love its vibe and the casual but chic feel it has.  It has a euro chic feel which I love and looks good on everyone.  I own this one in black as well as a few others in camel, loden and navy.  I keep adding to my collection it seems but I have yet to regret any purchase of this piece.  It's a must-have for me.
My Current Fave:  Brixton Fiddler's Cap

No. 3, 4 and 5  |  Shoes, Sneakers or Boots
This category goes without saying for all of us.  And, whether you're a casual lover, practical girl or devotee of glam style, there is a choice of footwear for every fashion taste and every outfit.  A quick change from trainers to ankle boots takes an outfit from off-duty to out with friends in an instant.  I'm picturing this being the case with a cami, blazer and jeans.  Very versatile according to the footwear you decide to pair them with.
My Current Faves: Tods's, Veja and Dear Frances

No. 6  |  A Statement Watch
I don't know about you but for me, there is just something about a really stunning watch that takes any outfit from okay, nice to elegantly chic.  I think that it is a piece anyone can easily wear regardless of their size, style or lifestyle.  I also love that you can easily choose a sporty one for when that is the case or a jewelry-like piece for elevated looks.
My Current Fave: Cluse Rose Gold Watch

No. 7  |  Sunglasses
There is hardly a time when you will ever catch me with my beloved sunnies.  They are either on my face or propped atop my head at the ready to be worn.  Given my love for them, I've built quite a collection it seems, haha.  But, the truth is every outfit needs them or, at the very least, can carry them off.  Whether you are channeling a mod vibe, glamorous look or simply want a sense of mystery and allure, there is something available for that and at every price point.

No. 8  |  The Scarf
Is there anyone left who doesn't love the scarf in some capacity?  From thin and gauzy to warm and chunky, there is a scarf style for simply everyone. That is a very good thing.  A scarf can take any look in an entirely new direction.  They can dress up the most simple of basics and make you look like yuou put in way more effort than you eevr did.  That in itself makes this piece an indispensable must-have for all.
My Current Fave: Burberry

No. 9 + 10  |  Earrings/Rings and Necklaces
Every girl loves at least one of these.  I often can't decide what that one is for me, haha.  I do always love wearing a ring regardless of whatever else I have going on.  But, never underestimate the power of a chic pair of statement earrings.  I especially love them whenever my hair is pulled away from my face.  They really add unmatched style to a look and honestly, what could be easier?  Layered necklaces and dainty bracelets are also excellent ways to polish off your look, literally.  And, they never go unnoticed.

Have you ever seen those women who make getting dressed and looking fabulous seem so darn effortless?  Well, today I'm going to share with you the secret to how it's done.  Trust me it is so simple you'll be doing it too as soon as this read is over.

So there's one thing I've noticed about every chic little outfit I've ever seen worn and that is that it follows the Rule of Three.  It's somewhat of an unspoken rule which is why I find it often alludes so many but nevertheless it is real.

Let's take today's look as an example.  When you look at it, do you notice how it incorporates a color scheme of only 2 - 3 colors?  This my friends is purposeful aka very deliberate.  By only working with basic black and shades of camel you have an enormous range of play to work with.  Black, of course, goes with everyyyything and its perfect, perfect partner is always going to be camel.  But from there, you can lighten the hue with a piece like this sweater (which is on MAJOR sale) or you can just as easily stick with the classic two-color combo while adding in some delicate gold jewelry to it polish off.  I'm currently obsessed with this brand.

Neutrals work beautifully together which is why they have always been a girl's best friend.  When you're picking them out for your wardrobe you will never ever go wrong nor will you be disappointed.  I promise.  They can follow the Rule of Three with such ease that they almost make you wonder why any other color would even be necessary. Ever.  In my opinion, they're not...unless you're craving a feminine feel like pink would give or want to make a bold statement via some pretty jewel tones.  Colors like that can feel like a neutral, but only a slight bit louder, if you pair them with other basics like black, greys or ivories.

All of those looks would be equally brilliant as they easily allow you to build your outfit around just two to three colors max.  Black, grey and winter white...navy, black and slate...caramel, brown and cream...burgundy, black and charcoal...denim, white and tan.  Oh, the possibilities are seasonless as well as never-ending.  Which is something I absolutely love.

That's how chic and simple it honestly is.  Choose a basic neutral and two complementary hues and build a beautiful outfit around it.  Remember to always tie in those same neutrals into your accessories and the three-color palette you've chosen and that will keep you from ever looking overdone.  Elegant, effortless and best of all, easily achievable.  That is a rule I will always follow.

I hope you all find this little gem helpful.  It's something I realized I'd done for years before noticing what was actually happening, haha.  I'm happy to share it as well as other style secrets with you any day of the week.  Have a lovely day everyone!
