what to wear

I don't know about you, but there is just something so mesmerizing about the color blue.  All shades from blue grays to rich royals always turn my head.  So, today's post is featuring some very pretty picks that would be perfect for spring/summer.

Let's start with this gorgeous skirt and top.  I absolutely love these two piece worn together.  They make for such a lovely feminine look the would be perfect for a bridal shower, with some kitten heels and a clutch.  Or you could just as easily slip on a classic pair of white slides (these are my favorites), and this bag and be ready for a fun day date.  And, on a day when you didn't want to wear the two together, you could easily wear the top with a nice pair of white trousers and the skirt would work brilliantly with a nice crisp white blouse. Definitely money well spent in my book.

Day dresses are always a nice option to have at any given moment.  This scallop-trimmed linen chambray one is just darling with a pair of sandals and a nice bone colored bag.  I love the gold chain on this one.  Mostly, because it is beautiful but also because it would work equally well with several other pieces in my wardrobe.

Nothing beats a comfortable pair of trousers and this pair in the lightest of blues is so nice for warm weather.  I think they would look strikingly chic with a smart white blazer and nude sandal as well as dressed down with a simple white tank, low bun, a pair of gold hoops and oversized sunglasses for casual daytime.

A couple of raffia accessories always make for the perfect collection of summertime accessories.  In fact, this belt would make for the just right finishing touch to so many outfits moving forward.  And, of course, you know by now that the straw tote is something I can't live without during the warm weather season.

This is a case of the Monday blues I can definitely get behind. I hope you're loving them too.  I've linked the pieces in the thumbnails below for you in case you're feeling inspired.  Thanks so much for dropping by...have a wonderful day everyone!

Christmas is one week away! Anyone else feeling excited? And while we all know that in keeping with the theme of this past year, the holiday will look different that also allows for a few changes to how we will all want to dress for it.  Some of us will stick with classic standbys.  Others will reach for a bit of something special and many will just want cozy comfort.  No matter which feel has your name on it this year, there are gorgeous ways to wear it.

If you're looking for some at-home sparkle that looks incredible but still feels comfortable I love this champagne and black look.  This skirt is under $40 but looks like a million bucks.  I love it so many ways and the fact that you can wear it all year round make it a must-have for me.  I also love how versatile this cropped black turtleneck sweater is (wallet-friendly option here).  It works beautifully on top of this longline skirt, providing the perfect balance and can just as easily be the cutest topper with jeans and booties.

The preppy side of me loveeees everything J. Crew and this look show why.  How lovely would this plaid belted ruffle dress be on Christmas.  Simply styled with these flats and a festive headband and you are done in an understaded yet beautiful way.

Finally, with life being the way it is, so many of us have found ourselves reaching for casual looks over and over.  The holidays may not be so different from that and that is fine by me.  Comy and cozy do not have to mean sloppy or any less special.  In fact, with a few easy tips a casual look can be completely seasonal and spirited as it sets the mood.  A great sweater is always my cold weather favorite.  Try going for one in a cheerful holiday hue (just got this one delivered in the mail).  Or, take advantage of the uplighting effects ivory can have and go for a warm and toasty turtleneck style in that shade.  Flattering jeans pair great with either of these and since we're talking casual, I'm all for these ultra cozy slippers that make your feet so happy. Simple accessories (like these adorable bow earrings) round out the look with the just right touch of holiday cheer.

And there you have it.  Three ways to get dressed this holiday season no matter how you choose to spend your days.  I hope you all are looking forward to Christmas and have enjoyed a Happy Hannukah as well.  December is the month that dreams are made of and it's no wonder why.  Have a magical weekend everyone!

xoxo

Now that things are finally starting to head back towards normal, is anyone else as excited as me? Haha, I can hear you all shouting from here!  But all kidding aside, it will be so nice to be able to go to some small gatherings and spend time outdoors doing fun things again at some point this summer.  If you have plans to attend a small wedding, host a bridal shower or celebrate....anything, then you might also be searching for the perfect dress to wear there.  These pretty picks I'm sharing today would be perfect for any and all of the above.

I absolutely loveee this one.  I mean, it is gorgeous perfection from head to toe.  The statement sleeve  is eye-catching for sure.  The lace is demure with a subtle sexy vibe.  The hemline is perfect for all occasions and the open back detailing is what makes it a stunner coming and going.  Run don't walk to grab this one if you have anything special coming up.

This floral number is so sweet.  I can picture it at a Calypso bar under the starry sky with great music and even better company.  The colors and print are so ultra feminine and the ruffles are the just right finishing touch.

Off the shoulder options are still on my radar.  This one and its colors say summer in so many ways.  I could picture it at the farmer's market on the weekend, a Sunday brunch or on an al fresco date by the water with my favorite cocktails.

Sundresses are always so popular and a definite summer must-have for me.  This one with its beautiful bodice and ruffle-detailed straps and this one with its ruffled hem, smocked back and romantic neckline is the perfect choice for celebrating that new engagement you and your hubby-to-be have just announced.

No matter what you're planning on doing, one (or more!) of these dresses will be the perfect piece to reach for.  Yayyy, I am so excited!  What are you all looking forward to doing once we can all celebrate socially again?  I'd love to know!

So I was recently browsing around over on ShopBop and found the cutest pieces we are all going to want to wear this summer.  Can you imagine? Haha!  They labeled them as top five staples we all need for summer and after taking a peek I really felt they were on to something.  So, I knew I had to share this streamline situation with you all.  French women are known for their ability to effortlessly craft a killer wardrobe using a minimal number of pieces.  That is definitely something to aspire to.  For now, I'm excited to be able to say that the following five pieces are what will take me through the summer without ever having to say, "What do I wear?"  And that my friends is worth its weight in gold!

So, in short the  top five are simply a wrap waist top (or a variety of them and the dress version counts too!), a pair (or six) of sun bleached cutoffs, a strappy sandal, the summer sweater and of course, a signature tee.  That's it!  Now of course you can have any number of each of these as I suggested but basically, these pieces will keep you going all summer long.  I just love when dressing cute and looking fabulous are this easy, don't you?  I've linked all the pieces you see here in the thumbnails below.  If you like the idea of any one of them, be sure to search around on the ShopBop site a little more and I promise there's more to love.

Hope you guys are enjoying the first day of June!   Summer is here and that makes me so happy!  Have a great day everyone, I'm off to grab a sweet glass of pink lemonade in honor of the occasion!!

Springtime always brings such a breath of fresh air with it that makes me want to renew and refresh everything and that always includes my closet.  These pieces and items here today are some simple yet satisfying ways to do that.  The pretty neutrals are so fresh and the classic look of chambray is one I reach for every year.  I feel like it is such a versatile fabric and it works so effortlessly all year round in so many cute ways.  This dress is one option for how to wear it for spring/summer.  I love the tie waist and the offset button detailing on the skirt.  I would pair it with some chic little slides (like these), a neutral handbag and these sunnies for an easy finished yet relaxed look.  Later those slides can work with your favorite shorts, a tie front top and the sweetest headband for a fantastic summertime look.  Speaking of tie front tops, this one is so gorgeous!  And I love it on top of this easy breezy skirt I've found.  The colors play so well together and are perfect for right now as well as going forward all summer long.  I also love how this top can do double duty if you paired it with a pair of high-waisted bottoms and fun heels.  Makeup neutrals are also always a must for me as I feel like they complement all skin tones and bring out everyone's natural beauty and that is, after all, exactly what makeup should do.

What do you all have on your spring wishlist right now?  I'm betting that sunshine, time outdoors and new beginnings might be a few of them if you're anything like me, haha.  Hope you are all doing ok...love you guys!

Happy Friday! Summer Fridays are a special breed and probably my favorite.  They are also extra sweet when it means we are all heading into an upcoming holiday week!  Red, white and blue options are going to be on everyone's mind and these are some of the cutest I've found.  Solids are always so simple and chic.  The classics aka navy, white and red are iconic for a reason and that is because they work on everyone.  From monochromatic to color-blocked looks, when you choose these you'll be completely ready for summer fun.  I also feel like gingham is the unofficial pattern of choice this time of year.  From small accessories to sweet sundresses, this pattern has quite a following.  Its cute, Americana feel makes it easy to see why.  Sandals, sneakers, handbags and lip colors all come to play in these various patriotic  palettes as well.  This pair and these pom poms are two of my current faves.

There are so many cute options right now and plenty of places to wear them.  Where is everyone headed for the Fourth?  I'll be enjoying my traditional family barbecue bookended by trips to the beach.  Whatever you're doing, I hope you have a great time!  Have a wonderful weekend!!
