vacation looks

Hello and welcome back.  Vacation season is officially (and finally!) upon us and that means it's time to get any of the kinks out of our packing game while we have a minute to spare.  It's definitely been a while since most of us have had the luxury of enjoying a proper getaway but this summer it seems we are all sure to get there.

One of my favorite places to spend some time during summer is Nantucket.  The charm, tranquility and unmistakable sense of Americana are all things everyone needs to experience at some point in their lives.  And for me, the more the better.

Today's looks each capture the essence and feel of getting away to this nautical paradise with the perfect amount of classic style.  Perhaps my most favorite piece seen here is this Ellie Nap Dress.  I find that it's perfect for nearly every ocassion and just so very easy to wear.  The smocked bodice and ruffled shoulders  paired with the midi length skirt make it the perfect choice for so many body sizes. Take a look at all the styles and colors available as I think there's sure to be something for everyone before selling out.

Tanks, linen shirts and lightweight summer cashmere help build such nice seaside looks and layering for the weather here is key.  I quite honestly don't know how the temperature can so quickly turn that much cooler butI'm always happy to have an extra layer for warmth when it does.

Certain accessories are somewhat of a non-negotiable when it comes to Nantucket summers.  Some preppy sandals, a big straw hat, a versatile tote and this headband make for some of the quintessential picks I personally love.  They are perfect for rounding out the looks you'll enjoy creating.

And that's it.  Simple, classic and chic and ready for summer.  Where's everyone heading this summer?  I'd love to know.  No matter where your travel plans take you, it's always so nice to arrive in a look that is ready for anything.

I hope you've enjoyed these summer bits and the sage advice that I'm sharing, haha.  Thanks for reading and I'll see you all with more style inspo on Wednesday!

Well hello, weekend!  The word alone evokes such a sense of happiness and tranquility in me.  I hope it does the same for you!  With things beginning to steadily open up, I find that many of us are starting to plan those long awaited trips and holidays.  So, even if that just means a fun and relaxing weekend getaway, you absolutely know it is going to be such a joy to do so.

So, with that being said, here are some wonderful bits and pieces perfect for packing.  Whenever I'm away  I know I'm going to need a couple of dresses to style up or down depend where we will be going.  This puff sleeved linen one is lovely for so many reasons.  First off, it is a neutral which you know I absolutely adore.  I also love the modern, easy fit and the number of options it gives for wearing it.  I would dress it down with trainers and a big floppy hat for a casual daytime look with a nice straw bag for carrying whatever I need.

This oversized denim jacket would work so easily as a top layer for added warmth if the weather fell on the cooler side.  It would also look quite fresh paired with these wide leg knit trousers and a classic striped tank.

Natural white denim is always a must-have throughout the spring and summer and I am in love with this pair.  I love how the balloon style updates the look allows you to wear them with multiple pieces on top.  Smart blazers, t-shirts and classic blouses all look incredibly effortlessly paired with them.

One piece dressing is every vacation's single number one necessity and I think this sleeveless jumpsuit is just an incredible piece to have at the ready.  Again it is a nice neutral color and will work with either tan or black accessories as well as white ones.  So, no matter which color accessories you tend to gravitate to, this jumpsuit will absolutely work for you.

For me, these are the pieces that will take me everywhere and anywhere this coming season.  If anything here has caught your eye, they are all linked in the thumbnails below.  Thanks for reading and have a lovely weekend!

Happy Monday friends!  How was everyone's weekend?  I spent some time enjoying local tastes and cultures and that got me thinking of how much we can experience of places around the world through their fascinations.

From food to fashion, every place on earth has its unique vibe which makes it unmistakable.  Needless to say, a plate of pitas, tzakiti, olives and hummus has me thinking about the isles of Greece, haha.  But in all seriousness, let's plan a trip to Mykonos and get our bags packed.

Sandy beaches and bright blue waters are begging for white hot suits to go with.  This bandeau version would be absolutely perfect for that.  I love how neutral it is but in no way is this a plain jane piece.

These Greek sandals and this gorgeously feminine and flirty striped dress is flattering and beautiful on (similar version here).  It's so easy to wear and works so nicely with these sandals.

When the night calls for drinks and some sweet dancing with your honey, this cropped top and midi skirt are the only answer.  Pair them with this heel and these earrings...he'll fall in love all over again.

Last, don't forget to swap sunburn for a swipe of this beautiful highlighter...simply amazing.  What else do you always bring on a special vacay?  I'd love to know!

WEEKEND GETAWAY

It's a summer Friday and we're packed to getaway.  As with all things summertime, this packing list is easy and the payouts are big.  Let's take a look at the simplest ways to look great when you get there...

//STICK WITH BASIC PIECES and NEUTRAL SHADES//  When reaching into your closet (or in this case, your suitcase) you'll want several mix and match options to play with.  This is where neutrals come in.  Not only can white, beige and black or navy play together, they always look super chic when doing so.  MICHAEL KORS is brilliant at designing such said pieces.  Think solid tops or bottoms in classic colors paired playfully with stripes, prints or patterns.  Where you place them (shorts, tees or sundresses) is up to you.  When going with the solid shorts let's say, you'll want to pair them with a nautical striped tee.  If opting for a printed bottom, simply keep your top in a solid shade, either matching the color of the short or in a complementary solid.  Madewell's modflower and lacebloom styles are perfect examples of this ease of maintenance tip.

//TAKE TWO:  DAY and NIGHT DRESSES//  Sunday afternoons can call for easy, sweet dresses to playfully follow their grown-up sisters from the night before.  Make life simple and pack two, one with a touch of tailored elegance and the other with a light-hearted feel.  Doing so will allow you to be perfectly prepared for whatever the day or night might bring.

//ACCENT with ACCESSORIES//  Nothing brings a look into sharp focus quite like the best use of your accessories.  Your goal here should be to complement the look, not overpower it and balance is key.  If going big on bracelets, there's not much need to do the same with your earrings or necklaces.  Try pairing some interesting arm candy (think bangles and wrist wrap styles) with a single long pendant  with an understated feel.  Similarly, when wearing a great statement necklace, keep the focus on that piece.  Accompanying choices will look best in smaller, more demure sizes and styles.

//A PAIR WITH FLARE and a SPORTY SPARE//  No need to take up prime real estate in your carry all with lots of bulky shoes and sandals.  Instead, try choosing one pair to wear with your daytime casuals.  Superga makes so many amazing styles, you're sure to find at least a few you adore.  Then, toss in a pair of sandals that are glam enough to pair with a nighttime frock yet easy enough to get along with your lunchtime go-tos.  These strappy styles from Dolce Vita and Rebecca Minkoff are both lovely options.

//COLORFUL COMBOS//  Although you may only need to pack your bikini for a day or two of beach blanket fun, when you turn to color and keep things interesting, you'll feel like you've spent a week in the sunshine.  Catchy prints will perk up any outfit and swimwear is no exception.  Try pairing a playful print two-piece in summer-inspired hues with a towel and tote in similar shades.  We all know coordination is key and this pulled together look will prove it.  Lily lovers can take it a step further and opt for a monogrammed look perfect for Nantucket escapes.

Where will you be heading this weekend and what do you plan to pack?  No matter the destination, here's to a wonderful weekend getaway!
