Sweet, glorious, sensual American sunshine.  It fills our days and lifts our spirits all year long but never more so than during the summer months.  Today I'm celebrating the solstice season with these sun-inspired items that work together or on their own to help you bask in the beauty of these summer months.

Yellow is having a moment this season and I believe that is with good reason.    This happy color looks good on so many skin tones as its hue is easily adjustable to fit with your personal color story that flatters you best.  It also signals positive messages to our brain that make us feel a sense of joy whenever we envision it.

Here I've chosen a variety of pieces with which you can build several different looks to suit your needs.  I know for me, I love a pretty sundress as it easily drapes across the body while enhancing one's curves in the loveliest ways possible. They are easy to wear and you can simply dress them up or down according to where it is you wish to go whilst wearing them.

Another item I can never stop donning during summer are smart, tailored shorts.  Unlike some of the styles that are known for being less than desirable, these are beautifully designed to flatter and always look effortlessly polished.  Classic tops as well as those with a bit more whimsy round out the outfit in a way that best suits your style and look you are going for.  I love finishing things off with a classic pair of sandals or ballet flats.  Each look equally refined and can adjust to the time and place at hand.  Simple jewelry, a straw tote and sunglasses finish it all off and have you looking like you have given such care and attention to yourself, which you have but in the easiest of ways.

Brilliant basics have acquired quite a bit of real estate in my closet and as many of you know, I love styling those pieces in endless ways so that they always feel new.  Neutrals and updated classics make it all possible and here's a few bits detailing how to do it.

This one is such a perfect choice for summer.  The light, airy fabric is so very pleasant to wear and the drawstring waist and button up front make flattering on so many shapes and sizes.   Pair it with some cognac colored sandals and a straw tote and you are perfectly dressed for summer.

This minimalist style shirtdress is in need of very little effort to style making it another extremely nice option for summer.  I love it with a pair of dark sunglasses and a great, classic black bag.  A buttery pair of slip on sandals finish the look with some flair.

TGIF! The warm weather and upcoming Memorial Day weekend holiday have me thinking ahead to summer vacay and weekend getaways soon to come.  One place I absolutely love to escape to each year is the island of Nantucket.  Peaceful, pretty and oh-so-Americana, this is one of my favorite places to go and soak in the sun and sweet breezes.  Packing for the trip is almost just as fun.  These ten pieces are the perfect must-haves to take along.  This embroidered baby doll dress is great for street strolling along with a panama hat, a sweet pair of Jack Rogers (loving the gold!) and these sunnies.  It could also double as a pretty beach cover up apres beach.   This nautical-inspired two piece swimsuit is so darling.  The colors are definitely New England summer ready.  I'm also loving these J. Crew ikat shorts.  I'm thinking of pairing mine with a front tie white blouse, a pair of K. Happy Monday!  This past weekend's Lilly Pulitzer for Target event had preppy-lovers everywhere in a Sunday shopping frenzy.  Not surprisingly, the items sold out in mere seconds but not to worry.  Today's looks are some of my preppy faves inspired by costal towns, seaside landscapes and nautical vibes.  These pom-pom tassel shorts (similar) are adorably cute and simply a breath of fresh air. The colors are summer ready and begging for a trip to Nantucket.  Speaking of color love, nothing says summer preppy as perfectly as navy, white and a bright pop of pink.  This striped navy and white skirt is a must-get this spring/summer if for no other reason than how it works so effortlessly with so many things you already own.  I love it with this sweet as candy little handbag.  And, who could resist pulling it all together with this charming little gold bow belt?  I also adore the bow embellishment on this darling little spring bag.  So perfect for those springtime parties and festive gatherings.  Straw totes and printed dresses are also on the list right now.  This Lilly Pulitzer number has such gorgeous colors and gives almost a little bit of a Calypso feel.  I can't wait to be wearing this little pretties through the spring and right on into the summer.  What are your must-have craves right now?
