WAYS TO WEAR IT: THE NAVY WOOL COAT

I don't know why I’m so drawn to neutrals but if you’re anything at all like me then you know exactly what I’m talking about. There’s something just so inexplicably elegant about a simple palette that has kept women coming back to it time after time. And, it's fair to say that I am most definitely one of them.
So, when it comes to curating a neutral palette wardrobe, there are a few things to keep in mind. First off, you need to ask, "Am I a warm-toned neutral lover or is my preference more of that of a basic black and white vibe?" Now, a true artist might disagree with me in that black and white aren't considered neutrals whereas they aren't colors at all. But, for the purpose of our work here, black and white are most definitely neutrals.
If you find yourself loving those warmer neutral tones like amber, cognac, khaki, wine, wheat, and ivory then this is most certainly your time of year. If you are more of a black, white, smoke, heather and charcoal lover then you must be uber chic and absolutely loving that it is October, the month in which theses color schemes take flight. Either way, it is a win-win and I find myself filling my closet with items from both camps and never looking back.
For today, however, I have put the focus upon the black and white scenario. I honestly don't know if I love anything more than a really good black sweater. Chunky, well-knit, oversized and, of course, complete with a cozy turtleneck, this piece will take you into fall and straight through winter will multiple ways to wear it.
One way I love, a lot, is pairing it with a creamy or perhaps tan pair of trousers. The feel is ultra-comfortable and the look is completely chic to me. And, while you can always slip on a great pair of flats or ankle boots, I personally love the unexpected twist of styling it with a nice pair of sneakers. This allows you to wear the look not only to work during the week but to later dress it down with trainers for those more relaxed or off duty moments on the weekend.
Right now, you can get away with topping it with a menswear-inspired jacket like this blazer before the weather turns to terribly cold and chilly. I also suggest this bag to help finish off the look. While it is a bit of a splurge, I feel it is worth every penny as it can be put together with an endless number of looks and wears like a dream.
Again, as you guys all know by now, I finish off nearly every look with a swipe of eye-catching lip color and a beautiful pair of sunnies. Ready or not, here I come.
How many of you have been building more neutrals into your closet lately? I truly love how many incredible options they provide me. Let me know your thoughts!

Hello Wednesday! Time for some midweek inspo that's perfect for now. I recently wore this outfit and got compliments everywhere I went. So, I decided to share these simple pieces and show how to turn them into a complete look. When it comes to sweaters, it's all in the details...primarily the simple details. Side slit hems, cropped sleeves and drop shoulders all come together to make this one a great staple. I paired it with these wide leg cropped jeans and these cognac ankle boots, another wardrobe workhorse. I added in my favorite bucket bag, this hat and topped it all off with a beautiful plaid coat and was toasty warm and ready for a casual workday. Don't you just love when things come together so easily like that? I thought so, me too!!
I've linked all the pieces below for you in case any of this has caught your eye. Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Wednesday and for those of you getting a long weekend, enjoy!

BLACK AND CAMEL
Hope you're having a wonderful week and have a happy Halloween!

Hello friends and happy September! Ahhhh, my favorite time of year has arrived and I couldn't be more excited! The fall season is so special to me for many reasons and absolutely love each one. A chill in the air, apple and pumpkin picking weekends, football games, Sunday suppers, cozy campfires and gorgeous rolling landscapes are only the beginning. The shapes and shades of our closets are also autumn-inspired with fresh prints and rich jewel toned colors. One of those prints I'm currently super excited about is the much loved leopard. Animal prints have been hot the past couple of years as they've become the new neutral. They pair so well with black, brown, camel, ivory and gray and can be easily incorporated in a variety of ways.
For the less adventurous, these earrings are perfect with a low pony, a cashmere sweater and some wide leg capris in pretty camel or ivory shades. If you want a bit more, I say go with a pretty animal print scarf, blouse or great pair of loafers. But if you are uninhibited in your love of leopard then definitely try on a fun skirt or slim pair of pants topped with a black balloon sleeve sweater to easily balance out the look.
Chocolate, desert and rose-toned eyes and lips are the perfect choice for complementing any of these looks. They're also another one of my favorite changes come fall. How about you guys? Are you all into the animal print look as much as me? I'd love to know your thoughts and faves!
Hope everyone is having a great week so far...thanks for reading and see you Friday!

Cat Burglar

Happy Friday loves! Time to kick the weekend into gear. I'm doing it with these less traditional fall looks inspired by this post. Soft colors, gentle plaids and oh-so-creamy neutrals carry the perfect look and feel that set up beautifully against Mother Nature's gorgeous blazing landscapes right now. This scarf is such a good focal point piece that can be the foundation of any casual outfit. I love it paired with an easy white turtleneck sweater or tee, light blue denim and caramel booties. You can also mix it in with a furry faux vest, mini skirt and OTK boots. Pull in some neutral accessories (love this cap, this bag and these glasses) and your femininely finished and ready for fall fun.
Speaking of that, what does everyone have planned for the weekend? I'm so excited to go out to the pumpkin patch. We're doing one of those haunted hayrides so they'll be plenty of hot cider and cinnamon donuts to go around afterwards, haha. If you've never done one of those rides, definitely give it a try. They are the best for getting into the Halloween spirit!

Fall has so many things I love about it {think gorgeous landscapes, hayrides and pumpkin spice lattes} and trying on new styles is definitely always one of them! One of the latest looks I'm really loving right now is The Culotte. Aka the gaucho pant, this look has some history and high-fashion moments behind it. What was once known as beachwear has recently become the go-to look of the fashion forward. I think for me, Eva Chen's pronouncement of it as a hot trend of the upcoming season was my selling point. Not because I gravitate towards what's trending but because I simply love what's chic.
These looks I'm sharing today epitomize what I mean. Effortlessly they portray the beauty of simple styling that speaks volumes. Another thing I love is that the look can take you from late summer through late fall without fail. While temps continue to climb, try pairing yours with a cropped top or silk short-sleeved tee and your favorite strappy sandals. On crisper days, I love wearing a black pair with a great gingham blouse, booties and military style jacket. Tweed versions along with sweater tops and leather motos will also be perfect for taking the look into late autumn.
I know this look is going to be a favorite for me. What on-trend moments are you looking forward to this coming season? I'd love to know. Have a wonderful Wednesday and thanks so much for reading!
