{GUEST FEATURE:}
Today's "Ten Best Ways" post features the sage advice of Jen Stagg of with HEART.  When I asked her advice on simple ways to reinvent a room here's what she said:

10 easy ways to give your room that finishing touch:
Home design is a lot of work.  And just like an outfit, putting the finishing touches on a room can pull it all together and give it that refined feel.  But, so often, the finishing touches get left out because by the time you get to that point, you're either past your budget, out of inspiration, or can't figure out what else the room needs.

Here are my top 10 favorite finishing touches sure to spruce up any room:

1)  A great tray:  Trays are a wonderful touch for a coffee table, ottoman, end table, desk, you name it.  Some of my current favs are these from West Elm:  http://www.westelm.com/products/large-rectangle-lacquer-trays-c348/?pkey=cstorage-trays&cm_src=storage-trays||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_--_-

2)  Monograms:  Nothing says class quite like a monogram.  Add your initials to a pillow, hand towel, stationary, etc. Love a bold letter: http://www.cwonder.com/home-decor/shop-by-category/decorative-accents/monogram-letter.html

3)  Personal photos in a great frame:  I think personal photos are needed in almost every room.  Don't go overboard, but a simple white frame with a photo of someone you love can make any space feel personal.  Ikea frames are always a great option.

4)  Pretty books:  I just love books.  These make one of the prettiest sets I've seen.  They look great on any bookshelf.  http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/home-books/26124339.jsp

5)  Ceramic figurine:  I can think of a million places for these little fellas.  http://www.cwonder.com/home-decor/shop-by-category/decorative-accents/foo-dogs-set.html

6)  Vase with flowers, real or faux.  Don't think you need something high maintenance like the real deal.  While Iove fresh flowers, a more practical option for a room you don't use every day is some pretty faux peonies in a sweet vase.

7)  Pretty pillows:  An essential, in my opinion.  I love Caitlin Wilson designs.  http://www.caitlinwilsontextiles.com

8)  Lovely lamp:  Make sure the proportion is appropriate for the size of your table.  http://www.westelm.com/products/perch-table-lamp-yellow-w736/?pkey=ctable-lamps&cm_src=table-lamps||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_--_-

9)  Simple, modern art:  I love a great graphic print or artwork added to a gallery wall or bathroom.  http://www.etsy.com/listing/150951347/red-window-abstract-painting?ref=br_feed_48&br_feed_tlp=art

10)  Sentimental item:  an heirloom jewelry dish, an old key from your first home, a map of a city you've lived in-- personal touches will make your home feel like YOUR home, not just a floor model.  I think adding a little something special to you to each space makes all the difference.

Wow, I don't know about all of you, but I'm ready to go shopping!  Thanks so much, Jen for these terrific tips!  If you'd like to see more inventive ideas and creative fashion and beauty tips be sure to hop on over to Jen's blog and take a peek.

Welcome Spring

Welcome Spring!  Although you can't necessarily tell by looking outside, spring is here and most of us couldn't be happier.  If the weather outside is not quite ready to greet you, you can still bring spring inside with these beautiful ideas and ways to say hello to the beautiful new season.
Let's take a peek...

via
Cheer up your kitchen with the addition of gorgeous spring plants like these.  Set them near the open light, provide a little love and you'll be admiring their beauty well into summertime.

via
Nothing says springtime quite like the addition of color to an otherwise neutral room.  I especially love the use of bright blue, navy, apple green and yellow to so perfectly complement crisp whites.

via
This look says girly and feminine of course, but it is also a wonderful way to feel ready for a day in the sunshine the moment you walk into the room.

via
Accent pillows are an easy and versatile way to add color and freshness to any room.

via
Fresh flowers....always a mood lifter, always a must have.

via
A pretty pop of pink does so much to add a lovely sense of elegance to a foyer and bring out the best in black and white.

These are some of my favorite ways to get a home ready for the sunshine filled days ahead.  What are yours?

Happy Spring!

Kelly
