Freeman's

Growing up in the suburbs of New York City gave me some wonderful opportunities to experience the best of what the East Coast has to offer and left me hungry to explore more.  In all the years I've spent enjoying everything the city has to offer, I've fallen in love so many times!  Today I'm sharing five of those favorites with you.  If you live nearby you know them and if you're planning a trip anytime soon, these are some you won't want to miss.

Freeman's is cozy, quaint and unexpectedly charming.  This downtown spot hidden amid the Lower East Side is certainly one to check out.  I love how it's tucked away at the end of an unsuspected alley and carries an intimate vibe amid NYC. Oh, and it boasts the BEST hot artichoke and cheese dip.  It can get crowded at popular times so it's best to hit it early for brunch or late afternoon before the crowds roll in.

Gemma

Just the thought of Gemma makes me happy.  Housed inside the Bowery hotel, this rustically romantic spot is the perfect choice whether you're hungry for a bite of lunch or craving a savory dinner.  I love a big salad and Gemma delivers.  Their combinations are maybe the most clever, creative (and delicious!) I've ever seen.  Pair them up with a wood fired pizza and you will be blissfully satisfied.  The Quattro Stagioni and Diavola have tied for my affection, haha.  This spot is perfect for a Friday night.

Polo Bar

It may be a bit cliche but The Polo Bar is a must do when spending time in New York.  The ambiance is unbelievable.  It's like shopping a Ralph Lauren boutique while enjoying precisely delicious American fare.  Burgers and fries are anything but ordinary here.  If you're feeling fancy, the NY Steak and Frites is a yummy bet.  You'll love it and afterwards will leave with a happy tummy and a love of all things Americana.

Rubirosa

If you follow my Instagram you know I love my pizza and come Friday I've got my eyes on the pies.  When you want really good slices (yes that means I can always eat more than one) then you want to head to Rubirosa.  Delivered hot and cheesy a top a classic-feel pizza tray and with its infamous pesto swirl, this pie is so New York worthy.  Grab some friends and head down to Mulberry street for some Italian straight out of Italy.

Levain

Oh, oh, oh Levain I love you like no other.  I couldn't write a post about my favorite spots in the city without mentioning Levain.  This bakery is like no other. The cookies are ginormous with their flavor, taste and texture playing even bigger.  Grab one with your favorite hot beverage and you will be in bakery bliss.  Trust me, I promise.  This is the absolute BEST place to go after a serious Sunday shopping trip with your girlfriends.

What's everyone have planned for the weekend?  Hope it's delicious whatever you do!  Happy Friday friends!

xx,

~Kelly
