blazer

Hello everyone and welcome back from the weekend.  I hope you all enjoy a lovely two days off and are ready to begin the week now with a smile.  So I suppose right now, it's all about the dress.  And, of course,  I don't mean the dress in a fussy way as none of us are ever likely to revisit that sort of dressing ever again.  Rather, the dress meaning the easiest, chicest piece that captures all of the classic and timeless elements that all wardrobe staples should really embody.

I went with the black for today's look as I feel it is a welcome change from the barrage of white and cream that we are all about to be seeing from this minute onward.  I do love a lot of white in my spring and summer wardrobe, however, this unexpected diversion is really quite nice.

There's so much to enjoy about this particular dress that I'm not quite sure where to begin.  The flattering tiered skirting and gorgeous neckline look so very nice together with just the slightest bit of feminine detailing.  It has a very easy fit and could easily be something you style casually or in a more elevated style depending upon where you are going.

I went for a more relaxed look here today by pairing these iconic Hermès sandals with it while lightening the look with a bit of white which I love in the warmer weather.  A straw tote is another item I find myself wearing a lot in spring/summer as it is such a versatile piece that works really well with so many looks right now.

I love my gold jewelry and think that these hoops would pair perfectly with this outfit.  A dark pair of sunglasses keep everything looking a bit mysterious and a delicate hair tie gets your hair to behave on the warmest of days.

Don't forget the indispensable need for a smart blazer to keep you comfortable on those nights when the air may carry a bit of a slight chill.  And there you have it...a perfect way to enjoy the warmer days (and nights) ahead.

I hope you, as always, found something to love here.  In case you have, I've linked all the pieces mentioned in the thumbnails below.  Happy dressing up!

Happy Friday!  It's the weekend and what better way to kick it off than with a collection of my top nine spring basics ready to go for the new season.  Spring begins on Saturday and I for one am verrrrry excited.   A new season always brings so much inspiration and I find that is never more true than in springtime.

I feel like I've been so busy the last week or so and it feels really good to just slow down a bit and take in what's new for the season.  The picks you see here today are really the basic pieces I find absolutely necessary to build the spring looks I know I'm going to want to be wearing throughout the start of the season.  As time goes on and the weather starts turning a bit warmer, I'll be adding in some lighter, more versatile pieces that will be perfect for more lighter spring days.  But for today, these are the must-haves I think every wardrobe needs.

The white tee.  To me it is a non-negotiable that I know I absolutely want to have at the ready at all times. It is truly the ultimate basic.  I love it with denim, maxi skirts, joggers and trousers alike.  Really I don't think there is very much it doesn't work well with.

Denim is also a great basic all year round as well as in the spring.  I currently love this high-waisted pair and will wear it with practically everything I own.  Pair them with a blazer.  This black one is a year round essential for me only to be traded out for a soft shade of ivory come summer.

Spring is the absolute perfect time to transition into blouses.  Of course I always have the classic white option handy but currently I'm loving the blue shirt.  This oversized version is extremely popular right now and I'm think about all the ways to wear it now through summer.  I think it would look so chic paired with white denim, tucked into shorts or with a pair of ankle length trousers.

The classic camel trench goes without mention and would work beautifully with everything pictured here right through spring.  It's an iconic piece for a reason, haha.  The basic accessories for me are always a high quality handbag ( love this Loewe one), a chic pair of sneakers, a pair of splurge worthy shoes (my favorite spring version) and a glamorous pair of sunglasses.

And there you have it.  My top spring basics that are the best investments for taking you through the season in complete comfort and style.  Everything shown here is linked in the thumbnails below for your shopping pleasure.

Have a beautiful weekend everyone!
