Have you ever found yourself unwrapping a pretty package and wondering....how could I possibly reuse this lovely ribbon?  I know I have.  That is what led me to today's post.  After taking a look at some of these ideas, you may want to start collecting all those oh so beautiful bows!

So, let's start here with these soft pastel ribbon belts.  While you might not find your next present adorned with this particular type of ribbon, this look requires little more than the soft velvet you see here, two D rings and a sharp scissor.  Simply cut 2 1/2 yards of your ribbon color of choice.  Next slip the two D rings onto one end, folding both ends in towards the middle, making sure the plush side is facing out.  Keep the D rings at one folded end.  Remove the backing from a 1 1/4-yard piece of iron-on fuse tape, and sandwich it between the layers.  Now place a piece of scrap velvet facedown on top, and iron on the cotton setting to fuse the layers together.  Voila!  An instant accessory via Martha Stewart

Oooh, this!  What an adorable way to add "a bit of girlie" to an otherwise ordinary blouse.  Create your tiny bows in the fabric and color of your choice.  Next, carefully remove a section of stitching to slit the seam {you may want to get a professional to assist with this part, but it will be worth it!}.  Finally, depending upon the fabric of the blouse, you can either stitch each tiny bow in place or hot glue it to stay.  So sweet!

A little bit of preppy.  Young girls will thank you for these.  The ribbon bow has been a longtime favorite of Lily Pulitzer fans.  If you know someone who you think might appreciate a few of these, you can find the entire tutorial here.  It looks pretty easy!

ribbon pearl necklace tutorial

I am a big fan of pearls and feel that when you add a striped ribbon, well that just makes it all the better.  The orange silk is a less predictable, yet still interesting choice.  Finally, the white ribbon is simple and classic and could easily be dressed up or down.

So while on the subject of pearls......can you stand this?  How sweetly delicate is this little gem of a bracelet?  I love the navy/pearl combo but am excited by the fact that you could choose any color ribbon you fancy and create a variety of looks.

So here's the last one and it's one I just could not resist.  I think it's the tone-on-tone ribbon that really has me adoring this one so much.  If you feel the same, here is a step-by-step on how to get the look.

I hope you enjoyed these ideas of how easy it is to repurpose a ribbon and how charming the results are.  Send me a photo of your clever creation....I'd love to share it!
