While yes, it's true I am a huge fan of the pastel season, I also occasionally crave bolder hues that still say spring while packing more of a color punch.  Today the perfect solution to that scenario is this classic combo of black and yellow.  Although this look can sometimes be tricky to pull off, it doesn't have to be.  Here are a few quick tips on how to get it right...

1.  Keep it Simple:  With two contrasting colors such as these, it's best to keep the patterns or prints you incorporate understated and distinct.  These polka dot pants, for example, provide just the right amount of visual energy without overworking the eye.

2.  Colorblock:  If you decide to go with a patterned bottom, try pairing the look with a solid on top.  A bold cardi or tunic length blouse would both work equally well.  The contrast in color is what pulls this look together and gives it personality.

Have you ever tried to cover up sleep-deprived dark circles only to be left thinking you now look like a raccoon?  Well, don't toss that creamy cover-up just yet.  It could be the way you're applying it.  Skip the traditional half-moon under eye smile and try using a triangle shape instead.  Here's how:

Simply draw a line down from the inner corner of the eye to the bottom of your nose.  Next, extend that line up from the nose over to the outer edge corner of the eye and back underneath the eye to your starting point.  Once this outline is drawn, fill it in with a tiny bit more concealer and blend carefully.  By doing it this way, you beautifully lift and lighten the entire under eye area while adding youthfulness to the entire face.

Today, her name is synonymous with all things summer, southern, sorority and signature style.  With seventy-five Lilly Pulitzer signature stores, her name and line live on.  Personally, I cannot thank her enough for all the beautiful designs and sheer inspiration she has given to the fashion world.  Lilly is a true trailblazer who has led the way for feminine style.  Thank you Ms. Pulitzer, we love you and your life lived COLORFULLY.

Springtime is the perfect time to embrace your girly side and what better way to do that than with pretty peplums and feminine florals?  While these two styles are currently trending, they also carry with them a distinct presence and feel of old Hollywood glamour.  Style icons like Grace Kelly, Ava Gardner and Hedy Lamarr each possessed that ladylike grace and poise upon which glamour is now based.  Today we look to current fashion faves  like Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama to keep the classic tradition going.  Looking lovely in their own right and representing each of these looks are favorite fellow bloggers, Rach Parcell of The Pink Peonies and Emily Jackson from The Ivory Lane.  Rachel takes the look in a very demure direction as she pairs peplum with a floaty floral dress cleverly worn as a skirt, nude heels and a gorgeous caramel bag.  Emily puts a punchy twist on it by placing her peplum atop floral denim skinnies and sleek black heels.

Springtime is the perfect time to embrace your girly side and what better way to do that than with pretty peplums and feminine florals?  While these two styles are currently trending, they also carry with them a distinct presence and feel of old Hollywood glamour.  Style icons like Grace Kelly, Ava Gardner and Hedy Lamarr each possessed that ladylike grace and poise upon which glamour is now based.  Today we look to current fashion faves  like Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama to keep the classic tradition going.  Looking lovely in their own right and representing each of these looks are favorite fellow bloggers, Rach Parcell of The Pink Peonies and Emily Jackson from The Ivory Lane.  Rachel takes the look in a very demure direction as she pairs peplum with a floaty floral dress cleverly worn as a skirt, nude heels and a gorgeous caramel bag.  Emily puts a punchy twist on it by placing her peplum atop floral denim skinnies and sleek black heels.

Getting ready for the day should be a treat, not a chore.  Actually, I cannot think of a better way to begin the morning than with a few favorite products that make primping a pleasure.  Do your skin a favor each day and treat yourself to these fantastic quick fixes.

PREP & PRIME:  Prepare a smooth canvas as you seal in skincare and prepare the skin for flawless makeup application. Smashbox has perfected this art with their Color Corrector Foundation Primer.

CORRECT & CONCEAL:  Erase dark circles and eliminate flaws with a corrector to bring skin back to its natural shade and a concealer to lighten the under eyes.  Try Bobbi Brown's Corrector and Chantecaille's Total Concealer.

BRIGHTEN:  Highlight and accentuate the positive.  Areas such as the cheekbones, brow bone, bridge of the nose and cupid's bow all look lifted and lovely when gently brushed with a brightening powder like Ambient Lighting by Hourglass or Laura Geller's Brighten and Balance.

GLOW:  Achieve that lit-from-within glow with a truly beautiful blush.  My go-to favorite is this one by Nars.

DIFFUSE:  Take your look into soft-focus with a finely milled powder.  Keep it there with blotting papers or a clear mattifier.  Some great performers include Smashbox Photoset Finishing Powder, Boscia Blotting Papers and Mally Poreless Face Defender.

This entire routine will take you ten minutes (or less once you get the hang of it).  Go ahead and give it a try....you'll be so glad you did!

My latest obsession in the world of all things lovely is this inspiring line of jewelry by Alex and Ani.  This eco-friendly line is famous for many reasons including that it is perfectly on trend, adored by celebrities and affordably priced.  And, while these things are initially attractive, they are not what I truly find endearing.  After purchasing my first script initial bangle, I decided to take a closer look at the brand and what it has to offer.  Here's what I found...
