Layering is a chic and simple way to create a look that is both of-the-moment and uniquely your own.  Today I've decided to highlight that very element as seen done so effortlessly by favorite blogger, Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific.  Blair takes staple pieces and adds bits of brilliance to create this sweetly demure spring look.  What's really wonderful about this way of styling is that you often don't need to replenish your wardrobe but rather discover clever ways to reinvent it.  Here are a few uncomplicated tips for creating lovely layered looks...

[ONE:  Start with What You Already Own]  Have a favorite dress or top that you feel is 'strictly summer'?  Pull out those favorite pieces, the brighter the better.  See which ones carry a neutral or versatile feel (yes, colors can be worn as neutrals now) and hold them aside for now.

[TWO:  Pick Out Your Favorite Blouses and Knit Tees]  Which one of us doesn't have a collection of much-loved layering tees or blouses?  That's the good news.  The problem arises when we get stuck in the mode of feeling like we can only wear them as defining pieces instead of beautiful accents.

[THREE:  Mix and Match]  Now here's where some of us need to leave our comfort zone and simply play.  Don't be afraid to mix what might seem like mismatched pairs.  It's often these very pieces that come together with the most pizazz.  The pairing of this black and white three-quarter length sleeve tee with this far from casual colorful cap sleeve dress perfectly shows how unexpected choices lead to uniquely beautiful outcomes.  Go back to those seemingly seasonal pieces you selected earlier and layer them over lace tees, patterned blouses or stretchy striped tops.  You'll be pleasantly surprised how fresh and fun the look becomes.

The latest luscious hue that I am currently craving is....YELLOW.  From tees to totes and jackets to dresses, this color is quickly becoming a spring and summer favorite of mine.  From the look of things on the racks, it seems I'm not the only one.  Yellow plays as a beautiful neutral this year as well as lovely contrast to classics like grey and beige.  

There are so many ways to enjoy wearing this color trend.  Try experimenting with a soft scarf  that ties together a basic white top and dark denim.  Finish the look with a pair of patent leather ballet flats showing a modest bit of gold hardware at the toe or heel back.  

I am really loving the idea of getting a yellow staple piece too, like this Trent Rain Jacket.  I feel like you could easily pair it with a softly printed bottom {think slim skimmer pants in muted hues or a cute pair of patterned shorts like these seen here} and wear it as a contrasting piece.  Alternately, you could use its bright color to liven up an otherwise ordinary outfit by putting it on over a solid white, stone or navy outfit. Mix in a cute pair of patterned or print flats in complementing colors and you're out the door.

Another catchy way to wear this color?  As a pretty feminine floral.  This pattern looks especially fresh when paired with a soft striped tee, perfect for layering.  Thinking outside of the box a bit, you could even boldly wear a striped tee over a printed or floral dress for instant freshness.

No matter which way you prefer it, yellow brings a little bit of sunshine everywhere it goes.  How will you be wearing your latest color crush?

The latest luscious hue that I am currently craving is....YELLOW.  From tees to totes and jackets to dresses, this color is quickly becoming a spring and summer favorite of mine.  From the look of things on the racks, it seems I'm not the only one.  Yellow plays as a beautiful neutral this year as well as lovely contrast to classics like grey and beige.

     It's official!  March is now here and we've turned the corner towards warmer days ahead.  Even if it's just a little bit milder out, it is a sure sign that spring is waiting to wake up.  To help welcome its arrival, you're likely in search of a few key pieces that will wake up your wardrobe as well.  No need to search the stores to find them, chic Saturday has already done that for you and they're all right here. Trends can be tricky and a bit intimidating, to say the least.  With these four, however, you can rest-assured that you will look fresh, feel confident and enjoy putting yourself together each morning.

STRIPES:  This pattern is a proverbial springtime favorite and can be worked into your closet in an infinite number of ways.  From the typical tops and tees to the standout piece of footwear {think smoking slipper} amid an otherwise solid top and bottom, stripes can liven up any look.  Blazers, blouses, skirts and even handbags are all seeing stripes this season and looking great.  Don't be afraid to branch out with this trend as you come to find the pieces that you like best.

FLORALS:  Yes, I know what you're thinking, florals were made for wallpaper in a distant decade.  I can't say that I didn't feel the same not so long ago.  Now, I've begun to change my mind.  With shades, patterns and designs that are eye-catchingly cute, this trend is quickly becoming one of my favorites!  Some key points to keep in mind when wearing this look would be to aim to incorporate one flowered piece per outfit.  Pretty floral denim skimmer pants work beautifully with a white jacket and a pastel peplum peeking out from underneath.  Feminine and oh-so fresh.

THE BRIGHT BAG:  Color is simply everywhere in the world of handbags and we girls couldn't be happier.  From sweet sorbet shades to luscious pastel hues, these leather accessories are popping!  Done in soft, supple finishes, they are the perfect companion to any of these looks seen here.

THE SILK BLOUSE:  Now for la piece de resistance, the silk blouse.  If there is one staple being seen simply everywhere this spring, it is the silk blouse.  Color blocked, patterned, dotted or striped, the choices seem nearly endless and that is a lovely thing.  One of my favorite ways to style this piece is to pair it with a sweet skirt or a bright-colored pair of skinnies, contrasting belt and an easy fitting shoe {aka the ballet flat} in a complementing color.  Strap a great crossbody bag over your shoulder {in one of those irresistible colors we just mentioned} and you're out the door.


Just talking about these looks now has me ready to raid my closet and do some serious spring cleaning!  I always find it refreshing and rewarding to do this because you almost certainly uncover a few cute little pieces you had forgotten all about.  Why not grab them and work them into one of these new looks?
